1.

An Electroencephalogram (EEG) machine, consisting of 24 electrodes, is used to

acquire brain signals from a tumor patient. The tumor is located in the left frontal

region of the brain. The tumor results in generation

of very low frequency

components in the left frontal region.

a.

Can the EEG sgnal acquired from 24 electrodes be decomposed

into various frequency bands? Explain in terms of various frequency
bands.
[4 marks]

b.

Describe the type of filters and their cutoff frequencies that can be
used to extract these frequency bands.
[4 marks]

c.

what type of filter can be used to remove the line noise from the
acquired signal?
[2 marks]

d.

Propose a processing scheme to identify the location of the tumor.

Write down and justify all the steps.
