This two digit number with a alphanumeric fraction refers to a

"toposheet"with a scale of 2cm = 1km or 1:50,000. It covers 15'x 15'
area. Nearer to equator it nearly occupies 15 mile by 15 mile= (15 x 1.6 )
x(15x1.6)=225 x 2.56 Sq. Km. More details in next sittings.

Suresh Pandey
Irshad !! A toposheet or topographic sheet, prepared by Survey of India,
gives topographic details (Highland, lowland , drainage patterns, Releif
features..), traffic details (roads and their types, railways..),position n
state of water bodies (wells,ponds,rivers.. n waterways) besides civil
settlements (colony, schools, government offices etc together with
telephone lined , high tension wires.
Suresh Pandey
Elements of a toposheet comprises: (1) Its scale- ratio scale; fractional
scale & graphic scale. (2) its symbol (3) number (4) magnetic
declination (5)its longitudinal-latitudinal extent...

are in "ACTI'VE MODE" striving to reach "SAFE MODE". My
Weakness: Tend to lose my sleep & appetite 4U. So take care of me.
Thanks Shueb 4 adding KKS. Be with us. Let's move jointly.

Suresh Pandey
Topographic maps (in continuation) -depict topographic features with
the help of Contours-their value, spacings, patterns, thickness intensity to
show dome, valley, spur, hills, ridges, escarpment ,plateau, and resulting
drainage.
Suresh Pandey
Orientation: Spread T'sheet on ground. Align its Longitudinal line
running parallel to NS of your Clinometer/Brunton; keeping top (or
increasing latitudes)of sheet away from you. This is reading position.

8/12, 9:08am
Suresh Pandey
USES of Topographic sheet: 1.As a base map for preparing Geological
maps; 2. In civi engg. Constructions of dams, tunnels, rail-road
networks,pipelines (water,gas)..etc.(Engg.Geology); 3.selection of sites
for strategic decision by military engg .(refer Military Geology);
Suresh Pandey
One FAQ: A military captain wishes to move his tank above hill slope.
Which one is easier-along apparent dip or any dip n why. From here
starts a discussion on true vs apparent dip, mathematical relationship,
solving given problem & use Brunton/Clinometer...&geological
mapping n its ..other aspects. (Let's keep these RESERVED 4 next
sessions
Suresh Pandey

& NOW: GEOLOGICAL Map of a region depicts geological features

superimposed on the topographic map of the area. Thus geology gets
shown over topography of the area i.e., topographic maps serve as base
map for construction of a geological map. A geological map shows
different litho-units -variation in surface outcrops, attitudes (dip +
strike),relationship with topgraphy(rule of V's),nature of lithoboundaries n litho contacts. These maps furnish details of structural
aspects (joints, faults, follds, lineations, foliation.. etc). They mark
locations of a mineral. Thus they be 1. Lithological ,2.structural;3.
Economic and other types. Makings their separate OVERLAYS to
combine these or removing from a combination gives better
comprehenson of mapped terrain. Thus a geological map affords every
detail of its geological features.

GEOLOGY OF DHANBAD & BoKaro. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The area
comprises a part Chhotanagpur granite gneiss belt composed of
Precambrian Metamorphic rocks (975+/-50 Ma); first studied by Dr.
Valentine Ball (1881). The comprising of a repeating sequence of
metamorphic rocks-amphibolites, quartzofelspathic gneiss, mica schist,
augen gneiss, quartzite, epidote gneiss and / or granulites..etc.. all have a
general trend of about N300. These rocks were intruded by basic rocks
(dolerites, hypersthene norite or norites) of post Cuddapah age and have
themselves undergone granitisation ,different episodes of metamorphism
(injection, ...)and metasomatism to develop Rapakivi like structures.
In the last episode, the resulting siliceous juices intruded along weak
planes or got solidified along faults or faults/joint planes .These acid
intrusives cut both the previous groups-metamorphic rocks as well as
basic intrusive and has average trend along N320. As Chhotanagpur
Granite Gneiss belt is a type of "granite gneiss belt"it is devoid of any
metallic mieral content. Between Dhanbad and Bokaro ,there developed
a taphrogeosynclinal basin (280Ma)occupying a EW trending linear tract
that developed as Lower Gondwana hosting economic deposit of coal.
Sediments from Parashnath hill , Parga pahar,Dhangi pahar and Baliapur
or adjoining areas rushed to this linear tract helping birth of coal.
Topographically area is highly undulating. Drainage in metamorphics
mostly from north 2 south for tributaries that meet EW running main
river (say,Damodar).

sir North end of a needle of a Clinometer dips down but a Brunton's
needle keeps it horizontal,why ?
Suresh Pandey
Reply: 1. In Brunton magnetic inclination is Balanced by weight of 2.5
turns of copper wire wound at its south end of of the needle. This keeps
Brunton's needle horizontal and free moving. 2. Loading by copper wire
annuls/cancels effect of mutual induction owing to external reasons. So
Brunton remains unaffected in presence of magnetic objects (iron belt
,watch, rails, high tension wire ..etc) 3. To adjust magnetic declination
Brunton has a adjustment screw. 4. In Clinometer declination is set
mentally. From each reading for bearing declination is set right. 5.
Clinometer needle dips due north (in Northern Hemisphere)and points
towards Earth's total magnetic intensity (I) which has its two resolved
components- Vertical (V ) & Horizontal (H) . tan(inclination) = 2 tan
(latitude of that place).

What is the difference between pseudosection and phase diagram?
Vijay Kumar

Standard Phase diagrams ............ . These are graphical representations of

equilibrium relationships between minerals (or other phases). . These
relationships are governed by laws of thermodynamics. . They show how
phases or phase assebleges change as a function of Temperature(T),
Pressure (P),Phase composition (X) or a combination of these three.
PSEUDOSECTION It is a type of Phase Diagram ; It is called
Equilibrium Phase Diagram; It shows the fields of stability of different
mineral assemblages for a single bulk rock composition; ......... It is
simpler &easier to interpret than standard Phase Diagram. &It shows
fields of different stable phase assemblages while PT diagrams show
reactions.
Suresh Pandey
In Fig shown above ............. Upper one is a PT diagram for Al2O3SiO2-H2O (ASH). Lower one is a Psedosection for particular
composition (shown by red dots in inset triangular diagram).

Suresh Pandey
Addendum ... Phase diagrams give sequential crystallization of a melt
-unicomponent or multicomponent. These involve parameters such as :
1. System (Open,Closed & Adiabatic); 2 . Phase -a mechanically
separable part of the system; 3. Components (C); and 4.Degree of
freedom. These are given by Gibb's Phase Rule: P + F = C + 2.

Pseudosections represent the compositional stability of minerals

crystallising from single melt that is in equilibrium.

C. YOUR INTERESTS & HOBBIES, regarding :::::::::::::::::::::::::::
DISCUSSING various HOBBIES ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Suresh Pandey
a. No hobby is unique to opt for it. b. Select your hobby such as the
interviewer finds minimum chance of digging down further or diverting
you through zigzag rough path. c. Let your hobby be actively involving
you- as a creator-such as writing, crafting, designing, singing, dancing,

microphotography..d. Hobbies with passive /consumer role does not

involve you; e. It is ok 2 have no hobby, instead of giving a fake
response, tell plain truth & move on. Hobbies are luxury effort.
Everyone may not afford time & money. f. Makings friends, going for
driving, listening to radio, visiting art gallery ...are not hobbies, rather
common men affairs; g. The hobbies are listed gender-wise :visit towww.artofmanliness.com (for men) www.herinterest.com (for female);
Suresh Pandey
I. Importance: Interviews can be s STRESSFUL to both the parties. A
Discussion on hobbies diffuses initial tension , creates friendly
environment-full of comfort & eases everything II. Types of hobbies n
its importance

B. A few TIPS 2 Help Answer Any Question ::::::::::::::::::::::;: 1. Be
confident; 2. Be comfortable with what you know & what you don't
know. 3.Don't lie; 4. A lie is lie; 5. Show enthusiasm but 6. Do not look
desperate; 7. Express your dedication & 8. Prove your worth n value; 9.
Don't be cocky i.e. too confident about yourself in a way that annoys
others; 10. Never be boastful of you such as hardworking, excellent,
champion of team; 11. An honest reply saves you; 12. Be truthful &
humble.
Suresh Pandey
DURING INTERVIEW :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1. Clearly think WHAT is
being asked ? (Make sure you understand the question or ask for a
clarification, if required.) 2. Think about WHY it is being asked? Or, a.
To see how you can handle it ? b. To see how skillfully you avoid
directly answering a sensitive topic ? 3. A smart interviewer will take
you outside of your 'memorised script'.

8/20, 2:19pm

Okkk sir...
This is d mistake usually I do....bcz I think if I will not answer d question den d person will think me

8/20, 3:55pm

The interviewers are learned and can gauge you well...so never try to be oversmart at anytime during
your Personality Test....As basics are being asked to know the relative grasp of subject..you should be
better than others

8/20, 4:16pm

Suresh Pandey
Gulshan! From 2day start listening News headlines and/news analysis 4 selected topics. Get equipped
well. Current is current. May read synopsis of events as given in competitive magazines like Pratiyogita
darpan digest etc. An educated must be aware of his surroundings. More so you have opted ' Discussing
political issues' as your hobby. However, it is always wiser and safe to confess boldly n speak very
clearly : Sorry sir! I may not say it well; Excuse me please, I may not correct, sir! I faintly recall it; Sir! I do
note feel confident. Yet I may be allowed to make an attempt. Soory sir ! I feel unable to answer.... And so
on as deems fit.

8/20, 5:12pm

yes sir...its a better idea to ask d permission to guess

8/20, 5:18pm

Suresh Pandey
Always be very honest n humble.

8/20, 5:27pm

Niteesh Dutta
Guess... is not encouraged....that is called ..chance given to make more mistakes...and then give low
marks

8/20, 6:11pm

Suresh Pandey
Only a confident man makes a guess to keep himself humble else he must leave the topic straight
forward. Politely requesting for an attempt has 2 effect: 1.provides you time gap to think well 2. Diffuses
stress .

8/20, 7:46pm

Gulshan Kumar
ThNx niteesh sir and suresh sir...so its better to be in between

8/20, 7:52pm

Suresh Pandey
A guess progresses you to success IFF your confidence level approves it. I can 't dare to guess in Bionics
or econometrics etc. So better to quit.

8/20, 7:53pm

Gulshan Kumar
Okkkk

8/20, 7:59pm

Suresh Pandey
But a tendency of repeated "quitting" can not be appreciated. Then IB is bored to ask "tell whatever you
know" . Take for granted that "you does not know even what you think you know. Never be shaky n
stubble or cocky.

It is a seismic section of Witch Ground Grabben. It shows complex structures marked several faults
comprising major extensional (Jurassic rifting) phase .It is a trough with Horst and Grabben complex. Left
side region is subjected to regional tensional stresses that caused accumulation of sediments leading to
crustal thickening and development of unconformity(lat Maestrichian) . All these Jurassic sediments and
structural disturbances are sediments of Cretaceous age that exhibit stretching in the middle part of the
section leading to disappearance of strata (Late Lower Cretaceous, green). The younger series strata
exhibit increasing degree of horizontally n little distortions when traced upwards-towards surface. Learn

This summarizes the seismic modeling process At a given location, e.g., at well A, the earth consists of layers with
varying lithologies Well logs give us velocity and density as a function of depth, which we block to capture the
significant changes Next we compute impedance as a function of depth From impedance we can calculate the
reflection coefficients We define a pulse extracted or estimated The reflection coefficient series is convolved with the
pulse to get individual wavelets the response of each reflection coefficient to the pulse The individual wavelets are
summed to give us the synthetic seismic trace

BHATINDA-FALL Location : Tetangabad village, P.S. Putkee (860 20'E: 230 42' 30" N); Survey of India Topographic
sheet No. 73 I / 6; 20 Km SW of ISM, Dha nbad. Geomorphic Features Bhatinda nala (BM 210) is a tributary of the
river Damodar and joins the latter about 500m further south. The nala is still in youth stage. It flows from north to
south. Its eastern bank exhibits the gentle slope, while the western side stands erect as vertical cliff exposing a thick
(>40) pile of sedimentary rocks. Escarpment: Bhatinda nala flows along the general slope of the area of while the
beds dip against the slope at relatively higher angle and form sharp escarpment (by deep cutting) even on the plane
ground resulting in a series of water falls (<10 to >45 deep). The main water fall is at the dolerite interception while
the other fall lies on its either side. The horizontal spacing between the falls exceeds (4 to 10 times more) the vertical
cutting. Soon after the main fall (100m) the nala development stabilises- attending a uniform horizontal valley of
maximum width with little down cutting along down-current and flows towards its confluence with the river Damodar.
Potholes: these develop in early stage of valley development by down cutting (abrasive action). Swirling motion
causes pebbles to rotate and cut holes of varying sizes. In front of the main water fall a number of potholes are seen
and appear to have relation with joints. Potholes aligned with dip joint have high ellipticity (major axis: minor axis =
1.75 or 2) shallow depth (average 2.5), while those with major axis lying in strike joint direction shows a deviation
from elliptical shape the down current side is narrower and flat while up current side is wide, rounded and straight
erect(raised edges). They are very deep (4 to 5) initially then vertically down and finally get bent in down current
direction. Potholes developed at the intersection of above(dip and strike) joints have a circular out crop and are quite

deep, run vertically. With their enlargement, the potholes engulf the inter- space in between them and coalescence to
create a large depression. One such largest depression (45 x 50) lies 200 behind main fall and in local parlance,.it is
known at STAKHATIA-i.e. unfathomable > 200 deep. The diameter , (average width), depth, orientation, shape,
margin, cross sectional area, clustering, nature of pebbles lying at the bottom and other features of potholes are very
significant in making them a death-trap Structure Attitude of beds (a) Strike: N2150; (b) Dip Direction: N3050 ,
amount: 100. Attitude of dyke: N1240. Joints: 3 sets of joints are (a) Strike joints ; (b) Dip Jooints;and (c) Oblique
joints. Joint intensity is 0.02 joints /sq.ft. Strike joints are more prominent than dip joints while oblique joints making
300 to 600 angle with the dip joints are still less prominent. The nature of these joints controls breaking of country
rocks into geometrical blocks, thin lamiae (needle shape weathering) and their exfoliation. They do control
development of potholes. Dyke: A dolerite dyke aligned along the dip joints cuts the country rocks discordantly and
often seen to extend its apophyses (tongues) along oblique joints. Its length across the nala is more than 100 ft.;
thickness diminishes from 6ft. towards the western bank to almost nothing on eastern side. A few dolerite Dykes of
lesser thickness are seen in parallelism of the main dyke cutting the vertical section of the sedimentary strata.
Dolerite is hard, compact and fresh rock. It shows typical ophitic texture in thin section. Intrusion of dolerite dyke forms
the main waterfall. The minor falls lie on either side of it resulting in a series of cascades. The area shows typical
Sedimentary structures such as: Stratification (>1.5m); lamination(<1mm); and cross stratification. Current bedding or
cross stratification (large scale) occurring in sandstone, with topset beds, bottomset and foreset beds measuring 20
cm, 15 cm, and 30-45 cm respectively indicating a paleocurrent direction along N 2890. Types - planar, tabular,
curved or hummocky type (in thinly laminated fine to coarse grained sandstone. Intersecting trough cross stratification
Formed under high energy condition due to interaction of two different sets of cross stratification having a width of
35 cm and length of 45 cm. Ripple marks in siltstone asymmetric ripples, branching nature of ripple indicates Dolto
indicate a paleocurrent direction of N 3550. Sand lenses in shale. Clay gaul in siltstone/sandstone.and Drop stones.
Lithology: Dolerite Dykes. Shale + Ferruginous sandstone Shale + Sandstone Carbonaceous shale A typical
lithological section observed near Bhatinda fall follows: Compact sandstone (4) Sandstone (2) Laminated sandstone
(7) Compact sandstone (1) Laminated sandstone (4) Massive sandstone (3) Carbonaceous sandstone (4)
Sandstone(1) Petrlogy: Barren Measure formation overlying Barakar Formation is exposed in the area that comprises
carbonaceous shales, sandstone and laminated shale. Barren Measures sandstone differs from Barakar sandstone
by having; More ferruginous cement More carbonaceous matter Has less quartz and feldspar and hosts noneconomic coal seams. + Near Bhatinda fall, they have been cut by dolerite dyke. Near moonidih project, Mica
lamprophyres occur and seen in pieces lying here and there as drifted rock (exposures are not seen due to mining.

CHEVRON FOLD These are characterized by very long limbs and very narrow hinges and most of the naturally
developed chevron folds have an interlimb angle around 60. These folds develop in typical turbidite flysch sequences
of alternating competent and less competent layers in which the thickness of competent layers does not vary across
the complex.

ANGULAR unconformity.Lower series is folded into an assymetric plunging syncline flanked on either side by
anticlines. The folded sequence comprises of thinly and thickly bedded quartzite or white siliceous bands.
compressional zoints are more numerous , closely spaced in thinner strata that appear to diverge down, towards
synclinal trough. The upper /younger series is lying above the older one and appears to be subhorizontaly bedded,
and consisting of gritty sandstonte that grades further into shaly s. st. or shale upon which bushes and tall trees are
grown. A typical weathering pattern is evident.

FAULT PROPAGATION FOLDS LOCALITY: Hata formation (Chikara Group), Boso Penimsula, Japan: Road Side
Cutting LITHOLOGY: Though not sure from Picture, it appears to be Dolomitic Limestone sequence clay bands. The
litho contacts are marked in blue coloured lines. DESCRIPTION: Fault Propagation Folds are the results of flextural
bending of layered sequence of rocks in advance of the actual rupture and development of fault plane (Suppe and
Medwedeff, 1984; Suppe, 1985). A fault Tip-Point (shown in black) in the sub-surface is the point at the end of fault
surface, beyond which displacement of strata is zero. A Tip-Line is trace of tip-point along fault plane. Here, Black

lines T1 & T2 mark two faults of different generations; T2 being younger. Beyond Tip-Point displacement of strata is
zero, yet thrusting operates to generate Fault Propagation Folds; also called Roll-Over folds (Gibbs, 1984). Hinterland
is the internal zone/portion of the belt in which plastic deformation dominates, penetrative strain develops and
metamorphism takes place. In the picture, it lies right side of Tip-Lines (Blue lines). Foreland is an undeformed region
in front of the thrust belt (towards Green lines, marking prevalent faults). Splay sequence comprises imbricate splays
marked by faults (T1, T2) that indicate foreland propagation, where there is splay development after the frontal splay
(T1) which is also known as Splayback sequence). Green lines (A, B, C & D) indicate second generation faults, which
are more or less parallel, reverse faults; the downthrown side is seen well dragged. Red lines (1, 2, 3,..8) are third
generation, parallel sequence of reverse step-faults. A white line, running throughout is a sub-horizontal fault, appears
to be filled up with gauge/flucon. Luxuriant vegetation (bamboo trees) in the background may be grown over fault
gauge. Conclusions: 1. Overall it represents a compressional regime as marked by numerous reverse faults in the
foreland. 2. Here the Fault-propagation folds form contemporaneously with a propagating fault tip (fault step-up angle
being 300 approx.). Bending of beds along a synclinal or anticlinal axial surface produces a specific amount of layer
parallel simple shear (Suppe, 1983). 3. An anticline develops over the blind thrust and a syncline at the fault tip (T1).
Once fold is initiated, it grows self-similarly and with a constant displacement, the structural relief increases and the
fault dip is seen climbing into higher stratigraphic level. 4. In a Fault propagation fold that ramp from decollement,
there is possibility of shear occurring in layers that form the fold core (i.e., layers that are truncated by the fault).

A case of migmatisation- mixing of a quartzofelspathic gneiss (light colour ) with amphibolites (black ) and
consequent development of folds of varying intensity -plunging isoclinal to assymetric, tight to open, traced from SW
to NE appear to be disharmonic type, as the intensity of folding increases gradually. It represents a complex folding of
regionally metamorphosed rocks. Age: 97525 MY. Location : Khudia NaLa sections west of Old Campbell Bridge,

Good morning sir.. Sir what is the difference between xenoliths and enclaves??

8/24, 12:36pm

Chauhan Ravindra
enclaves
Magmatic enclaves are volumes of rock surrounded by emplaced host rock of related but distinct
composition and of separated genesis (incomplete magmatic mixing).
Enclaves are distinguished from xenoliths, which are fragments of metamorphically altered older country
rock that fell into magma or lava and became enveloped within igneous rock. Enclaves are also
distinguished from schlieren, which are concentrations of mafic material that have crystallized out of a
single magma.
Microgranitic (mafic) enclaves are common components of plutonic bodies and may represent the result
of mingling of mafic and felsic magmas. These enclaves are often ellipsoidal or elongate in shape.
Studies on mafic enclave-host granite pairs indicate that enclaves and their host granites share
compositional characteristics indicating their close relationship, but that the two groups of rocks are not
cogenetic. The enclave-host relationship was probably acquired through pervasive mechanical and
chemical interaction (especially differential interdiffusion) between two originally independent magmas.
Microgranitoid enclaves typically show microstructural evidence that suggests that prior to incorporation of
parent magma globules into the host magma (during magma mingling), the enclaves underwent magma
mixing, in a setting where the mafic magma was more abundant than the felsic magma.

The most mafic enclaves are generally the most stable enclaves with respect to disruption by entraining
flow, and proto-enclaves with silica contents close to those of the host granite are highly unstable.
Enclaves are often interpreted as strain markers. However, most deformation of microgranitic enclaves
probably occurs at relatively high temperatures (950 -1050 C), so the enclaves record magmatic strain of
the host over only a limited temperature-time range in the hosts cooling history. Observation of apparent
deformation of enclaves in a liquid regime implies that magmatic flow velocities are likely to be below 10
m/yr in enclave-bearing plutonic systems.

A xenolith (Ancient Greek: "foreign rock") is a rock fragment which becomes enveloped in a larger rock
during the latter's development and hardening. In geology, the term xenolith is almost exclusively used to
describe inclusions in igneous rock during magma emplacement and eruption. Xenoliths may be engulfed
along the margins of a magma chamber, torn loose from the walls of an erupting lava conduit or explosive
diatreme or picked up along the base of a flowing body of lava on the Earth's surface. A xenocryst is an
individual foreign crystal included within an igneous body. Examples of xenocrysts are quartz crystals in a
silica-deficient lava and diamonds within kimberlite diatremes.

not necessary

8/24, 6:27pm

Manish Kumar Tripathi

A Transcurrent fault is a strike-slip fault characterized by a steeply inclined surface. Also known as
transverse thrust. The fault surface is usually near vertical and the footwall moves either left or right or
laterally with very little vertical motion. Strike-slip faults with left-lateral motion are also known as sinistral
faults. Those with right-lateral motion are also known as dextral faults.

Geology of VARANASI for ANKITA et.al.

8/24, 9:43pm

Suresh Pandey
Varanasi is situated in Uttar Pradesh province, in the north of India. The city lies within the Indo-Gangetic
Plain and has two effluents: Varuna in the north and Assi in the south. The area on the trans-Varuna side,
on the flood plain of the Varuna river, consist mainly of alluvium deposits.
Throughout Varanasi, the geological setting is quite similar: near surface are sandy lenses surrounded by
clay-silty deposits. This sandy lenses form the shallow aquifers (25-40 m) depth below surface, with
unconfined condition, which is the main water supply of most part of the city. The lateral length of these
lenses can be up to some 1000 m. Below the clay-silty layer lie fine-coarse sand deposits, which
represent the deeper aquifer (60-70 m depth ) below surface.
The reason for choosing this study area is that at that area, high nitrate concentration were observed and
that there are different types of land use in a small area. Besides vegetable farming, there are schools
and residents range from squatter areas to upper middle class houses.
For irrigation, water from Vruna is pumped into the field. The greeny, smelly river water gave an unhealthy
impression, although the farmer insists, that the quality is ok.
Water supply in resident area are hand pumps and dugswell for the less fortunated. the latter, some are
dry during summer. In upper classes, tube wells are drilled into the deeper aquifer. Q1. What is
composition of Gangetic alluvium? 2. Name types of clays. 3. Tell uses of clays. 4. What is layer lattice
structure? 5. Name some other mineral group with such structure. Tell its use. 6. How clay minerals are
analysed? 7. What is differential thermal analysis? 8. Name a book on clay mineralogy. Applied clay
mineralogy by Grim,A.E 9. What is bentonite clay? Say its uses. 10. Why bentonite is used in drilling mud.
11. Define aquifer. Tell iits types. 12. What is confined aquifer?

supergroup.....a bit of Mand-Raigarh coalfield near Kharsia..before Sakti.. After Kota it is gneisses
western extension of the Chhotanagpur Gneissic Complex...After Anuppur Gondwanas of Sohagpur
coalfield (Barakar Pali Parsora Tiki Chandia beds)..Umaria marine bed in railway cutting near
Umaria..then Gneisses continue..Mahakoshals (ferruginous shale dolomite metavolcanics etc ENE WSW
trending ..Narmada Son lineament..At Katni Tertiary Katni beds...sediments...then on Katni-Damoh-Sagar
-Bina section Kaimur-Rewa -Bhander of Upper Vindhyans are exposed mainly sst shale lst..From Sagar
westwards Deccan Trap with intertrappeans beds (physa prinsepii Index fossil) with I liers of Vindhyan sst
are there (basalt..tholeiite flows)..north of Bina contact of DT with Vindhyan(lower Vindhyan is
crossed..then we get Bundelkhand granite of grey pink coarse to medium grained from Lalitpur to Jhansi
and Datia..At Gwalior we get Gwalior Group ..sst at base ferrug shale BIF (Morar Fm) above..Gwalior fort
mesa is of Kaimur sst siltstone...beyond Gwalior towards north and NNW we get alluvium of Chambal and
Yamuna valley part of Indo gangetic Quaternary alluvium..At Delhi Delhi group of Palaeoproterozoic is
exposed on ridges forming high ground in older Alluvium of the Yamuna valley...pl derive such way seeing
India's Geological map..as I am deriving...age is from usual geochronology..(I go to Sagar -Gwalior very

We don`t measure the ez component because infinite resistivity of air above the surface and cofined
resistive medium below the surface and we did not get suitable difference

In fact the reflection coefficient between infinity resistive air and conducting earth is -1 that gives a very
negligible amount of Ex
Sorry read ex as ez
