Gene Etchart, who is

wintering down in Billings
with
his
wife
Elaine,
becomes a Century Man
on December 26th, 2016!
Gene, while an Army Air
Corps WWII flight instructor
in Oxnard, California in
1942, still owned a Civilian
Flight Training flying school
in Miles City. He purchased
this Taylorcraft airplane in
Monrovia, California for
$500, and then flew it to
Miles City for his school to
use as a trainer. Elaine drove
him over to Monrovia from
their home in Oxnard. The
picture was taken as Gene
was departing for Miles City.
They had been married in
Las Vegas on May 23, 1942.
Pencil artist Shirley Cleary, a
friend of Gene and Elaines
daughter Janeen, took the
old photo to do the sketch.
She has a long reputation
among conservation and
outdoor recreation artists.

We were arguing about what day to take off Friday

or Monday due to Christmas following on a Sunday
and feeling duped should we not get a holiday vacation.
The vote was tied at 1-1, so we went to the Electoral
Vote and it came up that we had to take both Friday and
Monday off, so the Buzz will be back on Tuesday.
Also, this will give us a chance to get our 12-month
desk pads done. They will be ready next week!

Clinic, Pizza Party, 2nd Chance

There will be a Scotty Alumni Youth Wrestling

Clinic Wednesday, December 28th from 1:00-3:00. This
is free to all area youth wrestlers.
The Scotties high school practice is from 3:00-5:00,
and if youd like to see how a practice goes, the public
is welcome to come and check it out. There will be free
pizza during this time for all wrestlers attending the
clinic. 2nd Chance sign-ups for AAU Wrestling will also
be going on during this event.

winter and...

If youre going over the river and through the woods to

grannys house you go, youd better get going while the goings
still good as another winter storm is hitting the region late Friday,
making travel this Christmas weekend hazardous. This system
will start to impact northeast Montana late Friday evening, but
the brunt of the storm is expected Saturday morning through
Sunday night. While there is still some uncertainty regarding
snowfall amounts, northeast Montana can expect widespread
accumulating snow and gusty winds, which will cause blowing
and drifting snow as well as reduce visibility.

The current prediction in our region has a swath from
Harlem, Whitewater, Opheim and Scobey all the way south
to Billings receiving 4-6 inches (6 to 8 inchens in the Little
Rockies) and further to the east of us receiving anywhere
between six inches to a foot. Checking out forecasts from the
western part of the state, they could be looking at anywhere
from 6-12 inches as well. Those who have snowmobiles
should be in for a great holiday season.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. East southeast
wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.
Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 26. West wind
around 6 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after 11pm.

Cloudy, with a low around 13. East wind 7 to 14 mph, with
gusts as high as 20 mph.
Saturday: Snow likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a
high near 21. Blustery, with an east northeast wind 18 to 24
mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation
is 60%.

Saturday Night: Snow. Patchy blowing snow. Low around

6. East northeast wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as
29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Christmas Day: Snow likely, mainly before 11am. Patchy
blowing snow before 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 11.
North wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of
1 to 3 inches possible.
