Conversion is the alteration of one syntactic structure into other syntactic
structures without the change of its meaning. The main purpose of this
action is to vary the sentence structure and keep it harmonious with the
whole text. To vary the structures of these sentences, participial phrase,
prepositional phrase, adverbial clause, adjective phrase or relative clause
can be employed interchangeably.

A. REASON
1. Adverbial clauses
- Because it was raining, we stayed at home.
- We stayed at home because it was raining.
2. Participial phrase
- Because he was so ill, he couldnt go back to work yet.
- Being so ill, he couldnt go back to work yet.
3. Prepositional phrase: starts with a preposition
- Without nothing to do, we went to the canteen for a cup of coffee.
- Under the influence of our mother tongue, we tend to drop some final
consonants when we speak English.
4. Adjective phrase: starts with an adjective
- Aware of the likelihood of accidents, the pedestrians move very carefully
in the rush hour
- Fond of delicious food, I spent a lot of money on this pleasure.
5. Relative clause
- The English Department, which is aware of its students need of research,
makes efforts to supply new books to the library and refurbish its reading
room.
6. Example:
V thiu chuyn mn, Quang b chuyn sang mt b phn khc ca

Adverbial clause:
Since he lacked the qualifications, Quang was assigned to another
department of the company.
Relative clause:
Quang, who lacked the qualifications, was assigned to another department
of the company.
Prepositional phrase:
From lack of the qualifications, Quang was assigned to another department
of the company.
Participial phrase:
Lacking the qualifications, Quang was assigned to another department of
the company.
7. Translate these sentences into English using different
structures:
