AFDAL IZAL

HASHIM
Senior Deputy Director
Institute of Diplomacy & Foreign Relations (IDFR), Malaysia
Afdal Izal Hashim has a Master Degree in Public Policy & Public Management from Korea
Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management. He is also a graduate of the Royal
Military College of Malaysia (RMC). He received the prestigious Korean Scholarship from the Asia
Fellows of TJ Park Foundation POSCO. A fellowship for Asia's young and promising future leaders.
He is currently the Senior Deputy Director Language & Cultural Diplomacy at the Institute of
Diplomacy & Foreign Relations (IDFR). Before that he was at the Centre for Leadership, Negotiation
and Public Diplomacy.
Prior to his current position at IDFR, Afdal has served in various capacities with the government
including a couple of stints at the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) and was the
Head of Corporate Communication of the Planning, Research and Corporate Division of the Public
Service Department Malaysia. He also served as Malaysia's diplomat at the Embassy of Malaysia at
Washington, D.C. responsible for Public Diplomacy and Public Relations.
He was also seconded as the Vice President at the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA)
based in Johor Bahru as the focal person on the authority's foreign policy and advisory role on
bilateral relations of Malaysia and Singapore. He regularly lead volunteers for welfare projects with
Orphanage Homes specifically in Kuala Lumpur where he obtain funds to sponsor underprivilege
children for Aidilfitri celebrations.
He also works actively with Malaysian Aborigines or the "Orang Asli" in the state of Perak and
encourages them to attend schools which is a big issue in the rural areas of the aboriginals. His latest
voluntary work was at the state of Sabah, Malaysia for an Education Expedition to Sabah's
underprivileged school leavers who had not the opportunity to attend college or polytechnic institution.
The expedition was aimed at giving them the platform to gain acceptance to tertiary education.
He is an avid runner and started running half marathons in 2012, including trail runs and obstacle runs
in and around Malaysia and founded the "Royal Runners Club of Malaysia". A group of RMC Old Boys
who are keen to run and keep fit. Afdal is also a recipient of the "Sword of Honour" for being the
Overall Best Cadet at the Reserve Officers Training Unit for leadership and military training at the
University of Malaysia in Sabah (UMS).
He is married with four children; three strapping boys, Ilhan 11, Arfan 9, Aimran 8 and a beautiful girl,
Shahana Saffiya 2. Afdal enjoys travelling, reading and watching a good movie date with his wife. He
hopes to pursue his PhD at the Australian National University, National Security College soon.

ALVIN NG
General Manager
GE Digital, Singapore
Alvin Ng is the General Manager of GE Digital. He is chartered to lead ASEAN GE Digitals industrial
software solutions and services that bring together brilliant machines, data, insights, and people to
drive real-time connectivity and data intelligence through a digital thread.
He has over 15 years of experience in sales management, business and market development, and
has held a series of global leadership roles. Three of those years were spent in Europe.
In his current role, he is also responsible for driving Wurldtechs business in Asia Pacific. Wurldtech a
fully owned subsidary of GE Digital, and a world leader in cyber security solutions, providing security
products, services, testing and certification to customers in the oil & gas, transportation, healthcare
and utilities sectors.
Before joining GE Digital, Alvin Ng was the Regional Vice President, Banking Products & Solutions,
for Wincor Nixdorf. He leads the Software Business Unit for Asia Pacific & Japan and have the
overall P&L responsibility of US$100m for sales, consulting and professional services. He also sits in
Wincors Banking Division Board, overseeing the growth strategy of the Global Emerging Markets with
deep focus on Brazil, Russia, India, China, Indonesia and Mexico.
Alvin began his leadership journey in Cisco Systems. He joined Cisco in 2001 and was instrumental in
building the Global Enterprise Sales team in the region for Cisco and helped the global enterprise
business achieve double digit year on year growth in the 12 years in the company. His last role at
Cisco was the Managing Director of Cisco Systems Global Enterprise Sales with responsibility over
Cisco Systems largest Global Enterprise customers generating over $350M worth of revenue for
Cisco.
Alvin is certified Solution-Focused Coach (CCPC Global) and qualified Professional Certified Coach
(PCC-ICF), he applies insights using assessment technology, appreciative inquiry, action learning,
coaching and blended learning to help leaders expand their personal performance and organizational
capabilities.
As a recognized community leader, in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, he served as the
Chairperson for Ciscos Community Connection Initiatives across whole of Asia Pacific.
Alvin received his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University. He
is an avid marathon runner, swimmer and lives in Singapore with his wife Ivy and their 2 children.

ANI RAHARDJO
Government Affairs & Policy Leader
PT GE Technology Indonesia (GE Company)

Ani Rahardjo joined GE in 1992. Prior to her current role as Government Affairs & Policy Manager,
she held a variety of positions across GEs multiple business units in Indonesia, including Marketing
Leader of GE Healthcare Indonesia, Rural and New Segment Leader of GE Healthcare Indonesia,
Communications Manager of GE Money Indonesia, Corporate Citizenship Leader of GE Money Asia
and Corporate Secretary of GE Technology Indonesia.
Ani studied at Technische Universitaet in Berlin, Germany with a major in Linguistics and Sociology.
She resides in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Besides her daily professional job, Ani has been actively engaged in different employees activities.
She was one of the founding members of GE Volunteers and GE Womens Network Indonesia. Ani
also held various positions as global board members of GE Volunteers (2000 2008) and Vice-Hub
Leader of GE Womens Network (2003-2005).
In her free time she enjoys walking in the nature and do light sport activities.

ARTHUR LUIS P.
FLORENTIN
Executive Director IV, Civil Service Institute
Civil Service Commission, Philippines
Arthur Florentin, former president of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP)
and Asian Regional Training and Development Organization (ARTDO) International, has four decades
of experience working in the private sector as an expert in human resource (HR) and organization
development (OD), performance management, career management, succession planning, strategic
planning, strategic execution, training and development, and workplace learning and development.
As vice president and head of Manila Electric Company (Meralco)s HR Development, he led the
efforts in making HRD as the first organization in Meralco to be certified in ISO 9001. He was also
directly responsible for introducing and administering Meralcos succession planning and career
development programs.
He took the lead in converting Meralco Top Managements vision for a corporate university as
executive director of Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC).
He was responsible for the operations management of a multi-level marketing company as general
manager of Waters Philippines.
He provided consultancy services for HRD, training and development, and Total Quality Management
in Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Budget and
Management (DBM), Department of Education (DepEd), and local government units of Surigao del
Norte and Agusan del Sur. He served as team leader of the CSC Change Management Project in
2013.
Florentin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, and a Diploma and Master in Industrial
Relations from the University of the Philippines. He is currently a PhD Educational Psychology
candidate and also teaches at the University of the Philippines (UP) School of Labor and Industrial
Relations.

ASTRI
NURDIANA
Principal of Midwifery Course
Singaperbangsa Karawang University, Indonesia
Astri Nurdiana is a Midwife and Midwives educator at Singaperbangsa Karawang University (Unsika)
Since 2007, Astri is the mother of 3 and she was born in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. She graduated from
Diploma 3 of Midwifery in 2006, diploma 4 midwifery in 2008 and Magister Midwifery of Padjadjaran
University, Indonesia in February 2015. She has been in her current position as Head of Midwifery
Course at Unsika since December 2015 and she focus on developing midwifery curriculum,
researches and innovation. As a midwife she is actively involved in Karawang Midwives Association
and responsible as a Leader of Karawang Midwifery Education Institution Branch from 2013 to 2018
of service period, which is leading midwives in 3 midwifery institutions in Karawang, West Java,
Indonesia.
2 Years after graduated from diploma midwifery in 2008 Astri Manage her own maternity clinic in her
village and responsible in providing midwifery services for the community until now. She successfully
directed Saung Galunggung Catering Company as her Family Business since 2009. In social activity
Astri involved as well in the establishment and the development of free Junior High School Gita
Wirabangsa in her Village, in 2015 there are 31 students from low income family, the school is funded
by village government and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of many companies.
She loves spending the free time with the kids by exploring Indonesian nature. She expects to
develop her leadership ability, broaden the global network and raising her self-confidence by joining
the ASEAN Leaders Programme.

BENJIE NG
Executive Director
Sian Chay Medical Institution, Singapore
Dr Benjie Ng Ser Kwei has over 30 years of experience serving in the charity sector since 1980s.
He is currently serving as the Executive Director of Sian Chay Medical Institution, a charitable
organisation with the Institution of a Public Character (IPC) registered with the Ministry of Health.
Sian Chay Medical Institution provides free Traditional Chinese Medicine consultation, low cost
medicine and treatment for the community regardless of race or religion. Dr Benjie Ng participates
actively in the fundraising campaign in the past three years (2013-2016) raising over $15 million
from the Charity Golf events, Charity Gala Dinners , Flag Days and Corporate Appeals etc.
Dr Benjie Ng also held the appointment of Chief Operating Officer in the World Toilet Organisation
which successfully UN to designate 19th November as the UN World Toilet Day in 2012. Prior to
this, Dr Benjie was appointed the Head, Fundraising and Volunteer Development Division of the
Singapore Red Cross Society in 2011. He was involved in the appeal and fundraising for the Japan
Tsunami Relief Fund which raised over $35 million in 2011.
Dr Benjie Ng was Head of Fundraising and Volunteer Management Division in the Ren Ci Hospital
in 2009. He was involved in the Ren Ci Charity TV Show which raised a record sum of $7.33 million
in 2010. Previously, he was a volunteer and Co-Chairman of the Ren Ci Charity Dinner which
raised $1.7 million in 1997. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the Sree Narayana Mission
Home for the Aged Sick from 2006- 2009.
Dr Benjie held other key appointments in other NGOs namely; Executive Director of the Institute
of Public relations of Singapore (IPRS) in 1994-1995, Head of Public Relations and Marketing
Division of the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) in 1995, Executive
Director of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises ( ASME) from 1997- 2001, Executive
Director of Singapore Confederation of Industries ( now renamed as Singapore Manufacturing
Federation) from 2001- 2002, Executive Director of Financial Planning Association of Singapore
(FPAS) from 2003-2004.
He practised Public Relations from 1990 to 1994 as Principal Consultant for RSVP
Consultants. Before that he was Assistant Vice President of Group Public Relations and
Advertising of united Overseas Bank Group from1987- 1999. He was the Deputy Head of Public
Relations and Marketing Department of the Post Office Savings Bank from 1980-1987.
Dr Benjie Ng graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a post graduate Diploma in
Business Administration from Brunel University (UK). He was conferred a honorary doctorate in
Social Science in 2000 for his substantial service and contribution to community work. He was
conferred the life membership of JCI Senator in 1997 in recognition of his services to the Junior
Chamber International (JCI). He was also awarded the 1992 Ten Outstanding Young Persons
(TOYP) Singapore Finalist Award. In the community service, Dr Benjie Ng was awarded the
People's Association 25 year Grand Award in 2009.

CALLAM FLETCHER
Chief Executive
Asia Scotland Institute, UK

Callam Fletcher is Chief Executive of the Asia Scotland Institute, a non-profit organization serving
5,000 professionals in Scotland with the highest caliber of insight on foreign policy and economics in
Asia, delivered through a programme of monthly events from global leaders in business and politics.
Amongst others, speakers include the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, the former Chief Secretary
of Hong Kong and the co-founder of Infosys. The Institute now plays a leading role in shaping
Scotlands position in an international context.
Prior to his role at the Institute, Callam completed an intensive executive MBA programme at Babson
College in Boston which included placements in Silicon Valley, Shanghai, Nanjing and Edinburgh.
Following this he worked for two years in consulting, helping mid-sized UK firms enter overseas
markets.
Between 2008 and 2012 Callam founded and grew Universal Internet Solutions, a digital marketing
company based in Prague, Czech Republic.
Stepping down as Chief Executive of the Asia Scotland Institute at the end of June, Callam is moving
to Zurich, Switzerland, where he will continue to work on strengthening political and economic ties
between Asia and Europe.

CHRIS WEBSTER
Dean and Chair Professor, Faculty of Architecture
The University of Hong Kong
Prof. Chris Webster has degrees in urban planning, computer science, economics and economic
geography and is a leading urban theorist and spatial economic modeller. He has published over 150
scholarly papers on the idea of spontaneous urban order and received over US$20M grants for
research and teaching and learning projects.
He was co-editor of Environment and Planning B for ten years. Books include Webster and Lai (2003)
Property Rights, Planning and Markets, Cheltenham, Edward Elgar; Glasze, Webster and Frantz,
(2006) Private Cities, London, Routledge; Wu, Webster, He and Liu, (2010) Urban Poverty in China,
Cheltenham: Edward Elgar; and Wu and Webster (Editors) Marginalisation in Urban China. London:
Palgrave McMillan; and Sarkar, Webster and Gallacher (2014) Healthy Cities: Public Health Through
Urban Planning. Cheltenham: Edward Elgar.
Professor Webster has five prize-winning academic papers on urban theory. His present professional
mission is to change the way cities are planned in China and his current research agenda is to establish
systematic evidence for the relationship between urban configuration (planned and spontaneous) and
individual health. He is currently PI on a UK ESRC-funded Transformative Research project that is
creating 700 built environment morphometrics for each of the 500,000 members of the UK Biobank, the
countrys flagship epidemiological study.

CHRISTIE LEE
Director, Student Community Engagement
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Christie joined NTU in 2015 and she has been tasked with strategically look at community
engagement (CE) as part of the Universitys larger social mission of nurturing innovative and socially
responsible leaders. The focus of this role is to develop the ecosystem, identify collaborative
opportunities, facilitate partnerships and build capabilities for students to take the lead in this area.
Prior to joining NTU, she was with City Developments Limited (CDL) and her responsibilities included
ensuring CDL achieves its CSR objectives and maintains its leadership position in this area. A large
part of her role included data capture and analysis for sustainability reporting and conversations with
benchmarking organizations such as FTSE4Good, Global 100 and Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes.
Christie started her CSR career in a financial institution and has close to 10 years of experience in
developing and spearheading CSR initiatives. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang
Business School.

CHRISTINE FERRER
Director, External Linkages & International Affairs
Tarlac Agricultural University, Philippines

I am Christine Nabor Ferrer, 34 years old, married, with three kids.


In terms of my educational background, I earned the following degrees: Bachelor of Secondary
Education (Major in English) in 2003; Master of Arts in Education (Major in English and Educational
Management) in 2005 and Doctor of Education (Major in Educational Management) in 2009, all from
the Pangasinan State University, Republic of the Philippines.
With my 13 years of experience as a lecturer, I engaged students in the following subjects: English,
Journalism, Educational Technology and Research.
As an administrator, I served as Chief of Publications and Public Affairs from 2010 to2015. Among my
responsibilities include: editing and packaging of Annual Report, Development Updates (University
Newsletter), Presidents Report to the Board of Regents, Minutes of Executive Council Meeting;
coordinator of TAU Development Updates On-Air (Radio Program) and supervision of technical staff in
the development of University Website, Audiovisual Presentations, Powerpoint Presentations and
documentation (video, photo and write-up) of university activities.
At present, I have been designated as Director for External Linkages and International Affairs in which
I take charge of the following tasks: Partnership Development, Implementation of Internationalization
and Globalization Programs, Exploring International Internships and Exchange Programs, Facilitation
of Institutional Memberships, Review of Partnership Agreements, and External Resource Generation.
My professional experience was all spent at the Tarlac Agricultural University (2003-present which has
honed me into becoming a promising administrator and has given me various opportunities for
professional growth and development.

DANN DIEZ
Executive Director
Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for Communities, Philippines
Dann Diez is an international development worker, trainer, social entrepreneur and has volunteered to
32 countries. He is past president Rotary Club Mandaue North and was awarded as Jamsetji Tata
National Virtual Academy for Rural Prosperity Fellowship 2007 in India.
Currently he is Executive Director of Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for
Communities, cofounder of Raise a Village project, National Campaign Manager of Lets Do It
Philippines, the Visayas Chair of GreensPH, and recently a climate reality leader trained by VP Al
Gore in Miami.

ELEAZAR E. RICOTE
Deputy Executive Director
Philippine Public- Private Partnership (PPP) Center, Philippines
Eleazar E. Ricote is Deputy Executive Director at the Philippine Public-Private-Partnership (PPP)
Center. He is specifically managing the Centers various units tasked with PPP capacity building,
policy formulation and evaluation, project review and evaluation, contract/project monitoring and
management, knowledge and information systems management, and public communications. Eli is
the main resource person of the Centers capacity building programs for implementing agencies and
local government units, and is lead officer managing technical assistance programs (TA) to the PPP
Center from development partners/agencies such as ADB, WB, JICA, etc.
He has more than 15 years of professional experience in BOTs and PPPs - in all aspects of policy,
process and institutional review and reforms, capacity building and knowledge management, project
development and structuring, procurement, project and contract management and monitoring.
He is a recognized PPP professional in the country and in the region. He has represented the PPP
Center in numerous national and international PPP conferences and workshops on infrastructure and
PPP policies, institutions and programs, project opportunities, challenges, best practices and
innovations.
In 2011, he was enjoined by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN (ERIA) as resource person
in PPP capacity building sessions for ASEAN economies like Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos
and Myanmar. In 2013, he was panel chair of the first session of the APEC 2nd workshop on
infrastructure in Indonesia. In 2014, he chaired and moderated the session on country PPP programs
during the first ASEAN PPP networking forum in Manila.
Eli has a BA in Political Science from the University of the Philippines (UP). In 1997, he obtained his
Masters Degree in Public Administration (major in Public Policy) also from UP. He took MBA courses
from Dela Salle University in 1998 and he is currently a candidate for the Doctor in Public
Administration and Governance (DPA) degree at the UP National College of Public Administration and
Governance. He completed PPP courses on concessions contracts from the UNESCAP in 2009. In
2014, he also completed an executive course on infrastructure and PPPs from the Kennedy School of
Government, Harvard University.
On the side, Eli is a professor and scholar public administration, public policy, governance, PPPs and
related fields. He is senior faculty, former University Research Director and Dean of the Jose Rizal
University (JRU) Graduate School. He is on his second term as President of the Association of
Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines (ASPAP), following his representation of JRUGraduate School in the ASPAP. He is also Board Member of the Philippines Society of Public
Administration (PSPA). In 2014, he was named Research Fellow of the Universities and Councils
Network for Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia (UNIID-SEA).
Eli has authored several studies/researches on public administration and governance, public-private
partnerships in infrastructure privatization, fiscal administration and local governance. He has been
invited to various international and local conferences to present these studies/papers.

FLORES GUILLERMA
Assistant Secretary
Presidential Management Staff, Philippines
At the age of 19, Assistant Secretary Guillerma E. Flores (better known as Asec. Magin) started her
career in public service as Emergency Utility Man, the lowest position in government. Now, she is an
Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Management Staff and a Career Executive Service Officer II. In
her 37 years as public servant, she gained experiences in areas of financial management, human
resource management, and procurement from working with the following government offices:
University of the Philippines Manila (1978-1988); Department of Budget and Management (19882000); Department of Social Welfare and Development (2000-2010); and presently at the Presidential
Management Staff, Office of the President (2010 to date).
Her educational preparation is at Polytechnic University of the Philippines where she obtained her
Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accounting (1981). She earned her Masters of Arts
Public Administration at the University of Santo Tomas as Summa Cum Laude (1999) and a postgraduate course in Governance, Democratization and Public Policy at the Institute of Social Studies,
The Netherlands (2005).
She attended several trainings and seminars; notable of which are in the fields of public sector
productivity (Asian Productivity Organization: Jakarta, Indonesia), human resource development
(Philippine Australia Human Resource and Organizational Development Facility [PAHRODF]:
Philippines), public sector excellence (Civil Service College: Singapore), social safety nets (APEC:
South Korea) and Conditional Cash Transfer Program (World Bank: Colombia).
She acts as resource speakers sharing her experiences and insight in the areas of performance
management system and procurement in the Development Academy of the Philippines and
Government Procurement Policy Board Technical Support Office. Presently, she is the Cluster Head
of the Management Support Group (MSG) who oversees the strengthening of the internal controls and
processes in financial management and human resource management and development. She is
highly instrumental to the attainment of PMS as Hall of Famer for Best Accounting Office Award from
2011 to 2013. Also, Asec. Magin served as coordinator of the technical assistance from PAHRODF in
the implementation of the following change interventions: a) conduct of organization assessment; b)
establishment of Results Oriented Performance Management System; and c) formulation of PMS
Strategic plan for 2012-2016.
Asec. Magin is a CPA. Yes, she is a certified public accountant but she is also a CPA which stands for:
C Committed, P Professional, A Assertive public servant. She described herself as an ordinary
public servant with no supernatural power but one with extraordinary passion for service.

GABRIEL TSE
Chief Marketing Officer
GE ASEAN, Malaysia
Gabriel Tse officially started as GE ASEAN, Chief Marketing Officer in June 2016. "Gabe" joined GE
via the Experienced Commercial Leadership Program (ECLP) in 2011, prior to which he built his
commercial and engineering experience across multiple industries ranging from Automotive,
Research & Development, Renewables to Utilities.
He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in mechanical engineering from The Massachusetts
Institute of Technology & Stanford University, respectively, and an MBA from the University of
Southern California.
Since joining GE, he has developed commercial and marketing strategies for Unconventional Gas,
Offshore Marine, and Small Gas Processing (CNG/LNG) in the US and Asia.
Most recently, he joined the Leadership Acceleration Program to drive strategic initiatives for GE Oil &
Gas on the Industrial Internet and Production Optimization - realigning O&G's upstream software
portfolio and driving GE's production optimization R&D efforts to help customers increase profitability.
With his experience across key industrial sectors and the blooming industrial internet space, Gabe will
lead the marketing organization to its next phase and work closely with the businesses to accelerate
ASEAN's digital initiatives.
In his spare time, Gabe is an avid photographer, enjoys cooking and eating, and travelling to new
adventures with his wife.

GOON NAN
Program Manager
Civil Society Programme, VSO, Myanmar
Goon Nan is from a small town which exists in arm conflict area in north east part of Myanmar.
He worked in fields of emergency response, community development, human rights and legal
aid/reform, civil society strengthening, and peace building, particularly in arm and social conflict areas
(rural) and semi-urban areas.
He has played as a youth leader, community mobilizer, community facilitator, community development
officer, project leader, project manager, program officer/consultant, and program manager (current) in
those works within more than 10-years.
Goon Nan earned his bachelor degree in Law in 2005 from Yadanabone Mandalay University,
Myanmar and Master Degree in Development Management and Governance in Philippines in 2014
with scholarship support by Open Society Institute (USA).
Goon Nan founded a Civil Society Organization called Justice Society-Lashio in 2015 which works
for Human Rights, Peace Building, Illegal Drug and Youth Leadership Development. He takes role of
Chairman of organization board members and program advisor as volunteer work/part time jobwithout pay. Plus, he is working in an international humanitarian organization called VSO partnered
with more than 100-local Civil Society Organizations across the country for human rights and political
reform.

GRAHAM KENDALL
Vice- Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange)
University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus
I have worked both in industry and academia, roughly for equal amounts of time.
Before entering academia I spent about 17 years (1979-1994) in the Information Technology (IT)
sector, holding positions at the Co-operative Wholesale Society and Provincial Insurance. I ultimately
managed IT support teams and large IT projects, having responsibility for upwards of 100 people and
managing projects that were of strategic importance to the company.
My current position is the Vice-Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange) at the University of
Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC). In August 2016, I take over the role of Provost at
Nottinghams Malaysia campus. As well as Provost (heading up the campus), I will also be CEO of the
Malaysian company that has been established to run the University. I will also be a Pro-Vice
Chancellor of the University, so will have a wider responsibility to the global University, which has
campuses in the UK, Malaysia and China.
Our Malaysia campus has a turnover of about RM 160 million, and employs about 700 people. I am a
Professor of Computer Science at the University and also hold a Distinguished Professorship at the
Open University, Hong Kong and an Honorary Professorship at Amity University, India. I am a Fellow
of the British Computer Society, a Fellow of the Operational Research Society and a Senior Member
of IEEE.
In 1994, I decided to leave the industrial sector and do my undergraduate studies (1994-1997) and
then a PhD (1997-200). Despite entering academia late (1994) in my career, my research/funding
record is at a level that is the same, or better, than my peers.
In 1999, two years into my PhD, I was offered a lectureship at the University of Nottingham. I was
promoted to full Professor in January 2007 and took up the position of Vice-Provost (Research and
Knowledge Transfer) in August 2011.
As the Vice-Provost I am responsible for developing and delivering the Universitys strategic plan,
covering Research and Knowledge Transfer. In the latest (2014) Malaysia Research Assessment
(MyRA), UNMC has been awarded a 5-STAR rating. UNMC is the only international university to have
been awarded this rating.
I am the CEO of Nottingham MyResearch Sdn Bhd. This company is a wholly owned subsidiary of
UNMC and has MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority) R&D status. This enables
companies to invest in R&D using this tax efficient vehicle.
I also have responsibility for the Business Engagement and Innovation Services department, the
Graduate School and the Research Support Office, as well as being a member of UNMCs
Management Board.

government office as an expert on renewable energy, energy policy and climate change for energy
sector. Besides she also has 10 years experiences working in International Organization such as:
EEP, GIZ, SIDA, GEF, WB, UNICEF, FAO, Plan International, SNV, Toyota Cooperation, Agri-food,
Seoul National University, Dajin University, BRTC, etc.

JESSIE HOLMBERG

Ms Jessie Holmberg has been actively involved in the social services sector for the past 10 years. Her
professional career started as an early childhood educator, advancing towards management and
leadership roles. Her passion in the development of young children inspired her to purse in higher
education which she acquired the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education from Central
Queensland University, followed by Master of Education (Leadership and Management) from the
RMIT University.
In the field of early years development of over 20 years, her scope widened from that of teaching to
the running of preschools and child care centres, then to the management of a private institution of
early childhood education. Ms Holmberg collaborated with overseas universities in developing
academic programmes and courses for early childhood teachers. During those years she was also
involved in teacher training, development of early years curriculum and managing child care franchise
businesses in Singapore, China, Vietnam and Myanmar.
Ms Holmberg is currently the Executive Director of Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS). Under
her leadership over the past five years, CPAS has grown from a mid-sized Voluntary Welfare
Organisation (VWO) to a large Institution of Public Character (IPC) status.
The organisation had also undergone a rebranding exercise a few years back which brought about a
change in the organisational culture and expansion of new programmes in serving the beneficiaries
better. CPAS have been achieving quite a few key milestones in the areas of specialised clinics to
inclusion of people with cerebral palsy into the community. Collaboration with other the government,
stakeholders and partners in the commercial sector has been the main success in achieving the goals
set in the strategic plans for the organisation.
Driven with passion to improve lives of the people with disabilities, Ms Jessie Holmberg and her staff
members have found meaningful moments working in CPAS and have continually renew their efforts
in bringing new horizons of hope to the beneficiaries.

JOSEPH SCARIA

Joseph Scaria, Jr. is a Social Marketer. He has more than 23 years of experience in marketing,
resource mobilization, program development and management, creative and innovative enterprise
planning, training and capacity building, grassroots communication and implementing social
development projects in various countries in Asia Pacific region, the commonwealth countries and
Africa.
He had been a management consultant to various businesses in India and Africa and NGO
management consultant and advisor to several NGOs in India and the Commonwealth. He is a
promoter of Corporate Social Responsibility and provides leadership to begin social enterprises or
social businesses as resource mobilization strategy for social development organizations.
Today Joseph is the Area Director for Development with Habitat for Humanity International for its Asia
Pacific region. He facilitates the Habitat for Humanitys National Organization strategies in the region
to build its resource base sustainable and diverse.
He also extends his time to other NGOs as an honorary advisor on resource mobilization strategy
development and training. He speaks in various global platforms/universities on leadership and
management, resource mobilization, NGO branding, corporate social responsibility and social
entrepreneurship. Joseph is a graduate of the Asian Institute of Management, Manila (Development
Management) and the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai (Business
Administration). He lives in Bangkok, Thailand.

LIM LEE YEE

Lee Yee received her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the National University of Singapore in 1996, and
her Masters of Arts in Philosophy in 2006. She joined Singapore Polytechnic (SP) in 2003 and is
currently the Director of the School of Communication, Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) in SP.
Prior to her current role that is more administrative in nature, Lee Yee spent 16 years in the
classroom. She has taught modules on communication skills and General Education. During her stay
with SP, she was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006.
Before joining SP, she worked as a teacher in Saint Andrew's Junior College. Lee Yees research
interests include education, philosophy and communication skills.
When she can afford the luxury of time, she enjoys jogging, serendipitous travels and hibernating with
a few good books in hand.

CHANDLER
Smart Cities Lead, APAC Services

Linda Chandler is the APAC Smart Cities Lead for Microsoft Services. In the past year, her role has
been to lead a consolidated Microsoft response to Singapores Smart Nation Strategy with a focus on
strategic and disruptive innovation.
Lindas passion for cities has been threaded through her 20+ year career. Prior to relocating to
Singapore with her family 12 months ago, she was instrumental in influencing the global Microsoft
CityNext strategy and landing this for Services in the UK, leading a team of strategic consultants and
co-authoring city whitepapers. She is particularly interested in the future of work and its effect on
urban mobility and published a whitepaper on Anywhere Working Cities in the run up to the London
Olympics. Linda formed close connections with the UK Future Cities Catapult, in particular through a
collaborative project Cities Unlocked - on urban mobility with the charity Guide Dogs.
In addition, she was also a Trustee of the London Transport Museum with a special focus on Future
Cities and represented Microsoft on the board of the UK National Equality Standard incubated by
Ernst & Young. Linda remains a strong supporter of the Women in Technology agenda.
Before joining Microsoft 9 years ago, Linda was CIO for the economic development body of the Mayor
of London. Linda holds a First Class Honours Degree and Masters in Computing from LSE and also
an MBA from the Open University.

MARCO SARDILLO
Adminstrator
Intramuros Administration, Philippines
Marco Antonio Luisito Villanueva Sardillo III was appointed Administrator of Intramuros Administration
(with rank of Undersecretary) by the President of the Republic of the Philippines in August 2013the
youngest to ever be designated and appointed to head the 37-year old agency. Intramuros
Administration is a national government agency, attached to the Department of Tourism. It is mandated
to ensure the orderly restoration and development of Manilas historic district, Intramuros.
As the steward of Intramuros, Marco was responsible for outlining the agencys programs and
priorities for 2013 to 2016, including the drafting and implementation of the land revitalization strategy
for Intramuros. During his tenure, in 2014, he helped to champion nearly PhP900M (approximately
SG$26M) worth of public sector investmentsa record high for the agencyfor the implementation
and actualization of the first phase of Intramuros land revitalization strategy. In 2015, he proposed,
presented, and successfully defended before both houses of Congress, an additional budget increase
of PhP410M (approximately SG$118.5M), representing a 1205% increase in the agencys total budget
(and the first time that the National Government allocated a capital outlay item, in nearly 15 years).
Aside from the additional resources, Marco mobilized the necessary support for Intramuros
redevelopment and revitalization, both from the public and private sectors. Notably, it was only during
his tenure that the World Bank and the United States Agency for International Aid (USAID) extended
support to and collaborated with Intramuros Administration, by way of technical assistance.
As a hands-on steward, he worked directly, on-the-ground, facilitating community dialogues and
organizing the informal settler families residing in Intramuros, as well as other marginalized sectors and
stakeholders. Previously, he served as Executive Director and Chief of Staff of the Office of the
Chairperson of the Presidential Commission on Good Government, when he first joined government
service in 2010. He has, likewise, consulted as National Governance Expert for the review of the
Second Governance and Anticorruption Action Plan (GACAP-II) of the Asian Development Bank.
Aside from his work in the public sector, Marco divides his time between his duties at the Ateneo Law
Schoolteaching, mentoring, and advising students on their Juris Doctor theses, and sitting as thesis
panelistas well as consulting for various nongovernment organizations and socio-civic groups and
providing pro bono services to them: primarily, to coconut farmers (on the Marcos era coco levy issue)
and to a number of urban poor groups.
Marco graduated from Ateneo de Manila University in 2001, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.
He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo Law School in 2006, took the Bar examinations
administered in that year, and was admitted to the practice of law in 2007. He earned his Master in
Public Policy degree from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (National University of Singapore),
where he was attended as a recipient of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Graduate

Puthkiry Kim cofounded IDEALINK Consulting Ltd. in 2012, following 12 years working in operations,

As Chairman and Strategy Director, Puthkiry is responsible for planning and implementing all aspects
of IDEALINK business strategy. His core roles include development of performance measurement
standards, procedure and incentives and improving effectiveness of all processes internal and
external. He has led developing and cascading the organization strategy to the lower ranking staff,
and implementing appropriate recognition program to align personnel with company goal. Before
taking up this role, Puthkiry has also held responsibility for human resources management where he
implemented comprehensive system of performance appraisal and benchmarking.
Before IDEALINK, Puthkiry built his way up the corporate ladder to the C-level in an IT Solution
company. He started as Supply Chain Manager and moved up to Chief Operating Officer. He
introduced supply chain best practices and helped the Group achieve efficient order processing and
inventory management through the Sales and Operations Planning. In his capacity as COO, he led
the back office team to make extra miles. His focus was strategic planning and human capital
development.
Puthkiry also worked for Coca Cola Sabco as Sales and Operations Planning Manager. Coca Cola
Sabco is one of South Africas largest bottlers and has extensive emerging market operations,
including Cambodia where its plant produces 30 million cases annually. This encompassed demand
planning, production planning procurement, and operations planning. Extensive use of Coca Cola
world class supply chain methodology and systems, including SAP, to optimize every step of the
logistics and operation process.
Puthkiry joined Coca Cola Sabco after Levi Strauss where worked as Resource Planning and
Logistics Manager for 2 years. In this position he was responsible for supervising Levi Strauss Intra
Asia and international Supply Chain. In this position Kiry developed understanding of the contractual
arrangements and processes underpinning effective global supply chain management.
Puthkiry has a Bachelor and Master degrees in Business Administration from National University of
Management, Phnom Penh and get certified training from Celemi and SMG, two of the largest

SASKIA LOER
HANSEN

RMIT University, Australia
Saskia Loer Hansen is the Executive Director International Partnerships and Development at RMIT
University in Australia and has responsibility for the University's transnational education partnerships,
international relations and prospecting activities in regard to new partnerships and presences outside
of Australia. Close to 10,000 students study for RMIT awards in the Asia Pacific and Saskia team is
responsible for nurturing and managing the partnerships that enable this extensive program delivery
and to scope, assess and build new collaborative opportunities. Saskias team is responsible for
driving the implementation of RMITs International Plan and for working across RMITs presences in
Vietnam, Europe and Australia to achieve the desired outcomes. Saskias current team also delivers
on Global Mobility opportunities for students across our locations of delivery. Saskia leads a team of
some 35-40 staff and works closely with colleagues across RMIT Australia, RMIT Vietnam and RMIT
Europe and RMITs international partners.
Before this role, Saskia worked in RMITs Design and Social Context College with particular planning
and resources responsibilities in the School of Media and Communication. Prior to coming to RMIT in
2011, Saskia worked at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland as Head of Governance,
Management and Academic Policy and had broader responsibilities for academic quality assurance,
University strategy and planning and Saskias team provided support for the University Executive
team, the Universitys Governing Board (Council) and the Academic Senate. Before
that, Saskia worked at Aalborg University in Denmark covering industry engagement and research &
innovation responsibilities. For a period of 8 years, Saskia was also seconded on a part-time basis to
the position as Secretary General to the European Consortium of Innovative Universities, working on
e-learning initiatives, EU research funding, Erasmus Mundus masters, leadership development and
staff and student mobility. This latter role entailed international project collaborations across different
national, regulatory and legal jurisdictions and provided very experience in terms of what it means to
not just build international collaboration, but to achieve outcomes in a complex web of different

DR. SYAHIRA
HAMIDON
Head Entrepreneurship Unit,
Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia
Having completed her PhD on The Development of Malay Entrepreneurship in Malaysia at Massey
University in Auckland, New Zealand, Dr Syahira Hamidon returned to Malaysia to head the
Entrepreneurship Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Amongst her many
accomplishments are: developing the new unit to be part of the Higher Education Strategic Plan,
introducing a Policy on Entrepreneurship Education and Development for Malaysian Higher Education
Institutions and the Entrepreneurship Strategic Plan for universities, polytechnics and community
colleges, and coordinating programs on entrepreneurship among the younger generation. She has
also been involved in many other policy discussions and formulation, including education reform,
graduate employability, youth entrepreneurship, SME development, Bumiputera business
development and the higher education strategic plan. Her inputs too the last few years have found
their way into National Budgets, National Plans, and the Entrepreneurial Nation concept via Ministry
inputs. She was one of the lead authors for the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint 2015-2025.
Dr Syahira represents the country at international conferences on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
She is a frequent speaker and judge in many national events on entrepreneurship. She has been
selected twice by the U.S Department of State to undergo an International Visitor Leadership Program
in 2010 on Entrepreneurship Education and in 2013 on Women Entrepreneurship. She led a team to
study Entrepreneurship education in the U.K and Republic of Ireland in 2011 that among other things
resulted in the higher education entrepreneurial award based on the British awards.
Additionally since 2014, Dr Syahira has been leading a team to implement an initiative Public-Private
Research Network (PPRN) as a strategy to increase productivity and strengthen Malaysian economic
development through demand driven research involving researchers in Institutions of Higher Learning
(IHLs) and business enterprises to solve technological problems. This initiative is one of the
components of the 11th Malaysia Plan.
Dr Syahira has co- authored books and published journal articles on entrepreneurship and lead teams
to design new programs on Entrepreneurship Education. Her opinion has been sought by other
Ministries and Agencies in Entrepreneurship Development because of her thesis and her key role in
MOHE. She writes Ministerial speeches on Entrepreneurship. In 2014, her book on The
Development of Malay Entrepreneurship in Malaysia was published.
Besides her PhD in Entrepreneurship which has been cited by academics internationally, she holds
an MBA (International Business) First Class from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a B. Commerce from
Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She is currently on several Boards, Councils and
Committees in the higher education sector or related agencies because of her expertise and
experiences. She also finds time since 2016 to conduct a class of Doctorate in Business Admin (DBA)
at University Utara Malaysia. Her previous positions before MOHE were in the Ministry of International
Trade and Industry (MITI), handling trade support, quotas, liberalization of tariffs and governmentindustry relations; followed by the Public Service Department dealing with the Malaysian Look East
Policy as well as planning and training.
She believes she can do more with the right resources and empowerment in a broader field of Nation
Building and international networking for a better world.

Thandar Aung was born in Kyaikhto, Mon State, Myanmar, in 1976. She came to Yangon in 1997
when her university closed political situation and then she studied IT. She became a KMD Computer
Center Software Assistant Lecturer in 1999. Then, she went Bangkok (Thailand) to find better
opportunity in Feb 2004. She was working in Bangkok and got scholarship from OSI and Prospect
Burma (Partial). Then, she studied Master of Science in Computer Information Systems. She is
holding Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Assumption University of Thailand
since 2006.
Then, she moved to Singapore and worked at Software Industry WPH and StarHub Co., Ltd to 2007
to 2013 and she got a Starr Award (Performance Award) at StarHub Co., Ltd, Singapore in 2009 and
Idea Award at StarHub Co., Ltd., Singapore in 2012.
She loves to do volunteer teaching. She was volunteer teacher at Manawrama monastery Myanmar
in 1999 to 2003. She was volunteer IT teacher at TACDB, Thailand (Sunday only) in 2005 to 2006 and
she was volunteer IT teacher at Pyin Nyar Dana (Sharing Knowledge) Singapore in 2011 to 2012.
Then, she returned back to Myanmar in 2013 with oversea experience. Thandar Aung is 2C2P
Myanmar's Director of Operations and Projects. 2C2P headquarter based office in Singapore and she
is responsible for driving Operations and Projects smooth delivery and support for Myanmar
Acquiring, Issuing Business and Alternative Payment (PayHere and @POST). She is contributing her

Tirta Nugraha Mursitama or Tirta as his nickname is currently a professor in Theories of International
Political Economy. He is the Head of Internatonal Relations Department, Binus University. At the
same time, he is also Head, Center for Business and Diplomatic Studies Bina Nusantara University
(CBDS), in the same department.
He received his bachelor degree from Department of International Relations, University of Indonesia
in 1999. In 2007, he received doctoral degree from Graduate School for Management Gakushuin
University, Tokyo, Japan. Before receiving his doctorate in management, he finished his master
degree in management at the same institution from 2004 until 2006. His master and doctorate degree
were funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Prior to joining the University of Bina Nusantara in late November 2011, he was a faculty member in
University of Indonesia at the Department of International Relations Faculty of Social and Political
Sciences (HI FISIP). In HI FISIP UI, he taught courses on International Trade Regime, Regime of
International Finance, and International Political Economy Thoughts.
He has written two books. The first book titled Strategy Three Dragon: Chinese Oil Industry Political
Economy in Indonesia, with Maisa Yudono. The second book entitled Corporate Social
Responsibility in Indonesia: Theory and Implementation of Community Development Case Studies

He was a Visiting Fellow at the School of Marketing, Management and International Business,
Australian National University in September to November 2011. Partnering with Associate Professor
Pierre van der Eng, he conducted research on the internationalization of corporate Indonesia and its

TOM STEINER
Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor

Tom Steiner is currently the Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) for the College of
Science Engineering and Health. Since joining RMIT as a lecturer in Aerospace Engineering in
November 1987 he has contributed in a wide range of roles relating to program development,
delivery, and management, and to leadership of teaching and learning.
In recent years prior to his current role Tom has served as Deputy Head of School (Learning and
Teaching) for the School of Aerospace Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Program Director
for RMITs Indonesia Project, Acting Discipline Head for Aerospace and Aviation, and Deputy Dean
(Engineering Operations). Tom has played a significant role in RMITs international positioning over
nearly 20 years. Some activities relating to international activities are described below:
In 1997 developed and successfully introduced an MBA (Aviation Management) for initial delivery in
China, in response to a request from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This was undertaken
from within the Faculty of Engineering, in consultation and with the agreement of the then Faculty of
Business.
1998: reached final approval of an articulation agreement with Kasetsart University, Thailand, for the
B.Eng (Aerospace)/B.Bus (Administration) program. This was the first double degree program to be
offered in Thailand, and according to a PhD study at the University of Queensland the most
successful such arrangement between a Thailand and Australia. To date, well over 300 students
have come to RMIT through this arrangement and successfully completed their studies, with many
choosing to continue their studies at higher degree levels at RMIT.
This took place as a secondment from RMIT from January 1999 to August 2000.
R-Tech was a private Higher Education Institution owned by 21 prominent Thai companies with
primary interests in mass media, health, manufacturing, and finance. R-Techs focus was on
introducing Australian-style engineering programs to Thailand.
In 2001 whilst Acting Head of RMITs School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Tom initiated
development of a specialised MBA for the Chinese Electricity Authority, as a collaboration between
Business and Engineering. This program ran for several years.
2006: Collaborated with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to introduce a successful
structured student exchange arrangement for Aerospace engineering students.
For 8 months from October 2012, Tom contributed to RMITs Indonesia Project as the Program
Director. In this role Tom worked with relevant Schools and College Offices to coordinate
development of the Academic Case including working on the academic model, governance and
implementation of programs in Jakarta.
Over the years, Tom has also been involved in a range of other projects with international focus, such
as the development of Collaborative Academic Programs for engineering with Chinese partners, and
he has provided guidance in the development of academic arrangements for offshore delivery of
engineering and aviation programs. Tom has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a PhD both
from the University of Melbourne.

Mr. Crisostomo Tommy Pacatang is the Resource Development Director of Habitat for Humanity
Indonesia. Habitat for Humanity Indonesias vision is to see a world where everyone has a decent
place to live. Anchored by the conviction that safe and affordable housing provides a critical
foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia has helped more than
50,000 families in 13 provinces through sustainable interventions in construction, rehabilitation or
renovation of homes since its inception in 1997. Habitat for Humanity Indonesia also builds
community facilities in the areas where it is present.
Habitat also advocates for fair and just housing policies and provides training and access to resources
to help more families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity Indonesia works through
its offices in the following locations: Batam, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabayaand welcomes people of
all races, religions and nationalities to partner in its mission.
With the 5-year campaign, I Build My Indonesia, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia aims to serve
additional 60,000 families.
Tommy Pacatang has more than 20 years of experience in leading non-government organizations at
different levels of management.

Mr Koh Tong Hai graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Mathematics from the
National University of Singapore. He joined the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) in 1992 and has held
several appointments in the SPS over the last 24 years. These include appointments as Commander,
Cluster A and Director, Corporate Services Division. He is currently appointed as Director, Intelligence
Division of the Singapore Prison Service.
The Singapore Prison Service is a government agency under the hierarchy of the Ministry of Home
Affairs. Mr Koh and his staff, who are known as Captains of Lives, practice throughcare, taking a
holistic approach to the in-prison and post-release experience of ex-offenders. Mr Koh is married to
Wendy, and is father to one daughter.

Senior Vice President & Head of Business Implementation
HSBC, Indonesia

Tripudjo has 28 year professional experience in banking industry, covering areas of cash
management, compliance, corporate banking, finance, internal control legal, and operations.
Currently, he is Senior Vice President and Head of Business Implementation in HSBC Indonesia,
looking after planning and implementations of HSBC Groups strategic priorities and initiatives in
Indonesia.
Outside work, Tripudjo enjoys time with his wife supporting children education, in particular for underprivilege children.
Tripudjo holds an MBA degree in management and a Bachelor degree in banking, finance, and
investment.

IYER-RANIGA

RMIT University, Australia
Associate Professor Usha Iyer-Raniga is Deputy Head, International at the School of Property and
Construction Management, RMIT University. She is Director of the Sustainable Buildings Innovation
Lab (SBiLab) dealing with research on energy efficiency and sustainability in the built environment.
Ushas primary interest is in sustainability of the built environment, in achieving practical solutions to
ensure sustainable outcomes for the users of the built environment. Usha brings cross disciplinary
and project management experiences to her teaching and research.
Qualified in her undergraduate degree as an architect, Usha has worked in architectural practices in
India, Canada and Australia. She received her Masters degree from Canada and her Doctorate in
Australia. Her passion in sustainability commenced through energy efficiency and conservation, which
is now broadened to triple bottom line sustainability to buildings and the built environment.
Post her PhD, Usha has worked in private consulting and in government where she worked on
matters pertaining to introduction of regulatory compliance for energy efficiency measures in the
residential and commercial building sectors in Australia. Usha has been invited as key note speaker
and invited speaker at national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. Her teaching
portfolio extends to Asian countries. She has been involved as an expert in panel discussions for
Australian government, as well as for international organisations and industry. Currently, Usha is
leading the Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme (SBC) under UNEPs Ten Year
Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10FYP SCP).
Usha is a reviewer and scientific committee member for national and international referred journals
and refereed conferences. She is on the editorial board for refereed journals and has been a Board
Member of the not-for-profit Alternative Technology Association (ATA) in Australia. She is currently on
the Green Building Council of Australias Advisory Board.
Ushas biography has been included in the Marquis Who's Who in the World 2016 (33rd Edition),
along with approximately 55,000 of the most accomplished men and women from around the world,
including luminaries as U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Wilson Effendy is Director of Business Development of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, an

Construction, and Hospitality business.
Currently he is also serving as Director of PT Suryacipta Swadaya, an industrial estate company
owned by PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk. He has expertise in all aspects of funding, business
analysis, financial planning, costing, profitability, merger & acquisition, and project management.
Prior to joining PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, Mr Effendy held positions with PT Nirvana
Development Tbk, Bekasi Fajar Industrial Estate, Uresources Group, Sinar Mas Group, Barclays
Global Investors, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Arthur Andersen. Mr Effendy holds a Bachelor Degree
from University of Tarumanegara and a Master Degree from California State University.

YASMIN RASYID
Founder and President
EcoKnights, Malaysia
Yasmin is a marine biologist by profession and environmentalist by passion. She is the founder and
president of EcoKnights, a Malaysian not-for-profit environmental organization established in 2006.
She is also the chairperson of a national coalition of 26 environmental and social NGOs called
Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO) established in 2001.
Yasmin co founded a start up enterprise that promotes urban sustainable farming solutions called
PopTani Asia. In her professional capacity she is also a sustainability consultant to two property
developers in Malaysia. In her spare time she guest lectures and has lectured in University Malaya,
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and recently University of Kuala Lumpur.
She is currently in the midst of wrapping up her PhD in University Malaya. For fun Yasmin doodles
whenever she finds time.

YEAN NYOK, LIM

Yean Nyok leads GE Healthcares Legal and Compliance function in ASEAN, based in Singapore.
Yean Nyok joined GE in 2008 as the Legal Counsel for GE ASEANs corporate head office based in
Kuala Lumpur until her move to GE Healthcare in November 2011. In her years in GE, Yean Nyok
has developed strong relationships with various teams across the company and is well regarded as a
trusted business partner to address tough issues head-on.
Yean Nyok earned her undergraduate law degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She
began her corporate commercial legal career with Zaid Ibrahim & Co. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and
was a partner of the firm for a few years before going in-house as a senior attorney with IBM ASEAN.
Yean Nyok is also a passionate advocate for the GE Womens Network and has taken numerous
leadership roles in the Network both in Malaysia and Singapore, the last as co-hub leader for the
Network and the GE Healthcare MyConnection in Singapore between 2012 2014.
In her free time, Yean Nyok enjoys yoga, swimming and perfecting 30-minute meals.

Dr. Yeoh Oon Tean is the Chief Executive Office of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM)
and the Executive Director of International Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (ICCM). He also leads
FMM Institute and FMM Services Sdn. Bhd.
Prior to joining FMM and its related organisations in 2012, Dr. Yeoh worked in the manufacturing
sector for 26 years in semiconductor and supporting industries. His experiences include Process
Engineering, Supply Management, Facilities, Automation and Marketing.
Currently, Dr. Yeoh represents FMM in the Approval Committee for the Technology Acquisition Fund
(TAF) and Commercialisation of R&D Fund (CRDF) in Malaysian Technology Development
Corporation (MTDF), Working Committee of the National Export Council and judging panel for the
Ministry of Human Resources HRDF Awards. He is also a Chemical Engineering Industry Advisory
Panel member of Monash University Malaysia.
Dr. Yeoh has a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA and a DBA. He is a Member of
the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and a MIM Certified Professional Trainer. Besides being
a certified trainer on leadership and emotional intelligence, Dr. Yeoh was a part-time MBA instructor,
national examination script marker and thesis supervisor in a local private university for a few years.

Nicole Wilkinson
Strategic Partnerships Consultant, British Council, Singapore
The British Council is the UK's cultural relations organisation. Working in over 100 countries, the
British Council connects millions of people with the UK through programmes in English, the Arts,
Education and Society. Following a short maternity career break, I have returned to the British Council
as a consultant.
Working with the Global Partnerships team in London and the Asia Regional Leadership Team, I am
supporting the development of a major new programme of strategic partnership development, working
across all of the British Council business units.This is a global first for the British Council and is being
initially developed in the Asian region.

Abhishek Bhatia
Chief Executive, FWD Singapore
Abhishek Bhatia is Chief Executive Officer, leading the establishment and development of FWD in
Singapore with the goal of building the company into a top five insurer. Prior to joining FWD, Abhishek
spent 15 years with Prudential Plc in senior roles across the globe. In his last job, he was Chief
Executive Officer, Prudential Poland, where he oversaw the establishment of the company and was
instrumental in achieving Prudentials leadership position in sales technology and product innovation.
Prior to that Abhishek was the Regional Director of Insurance based out of Hong Kong. He also held
senior roles with Prudential in Malaysia and India.
Abhishek holds an Honours degree in Economics from Delhi University, and is an alumnus of the
Indian Institute of Management.

Gary Tan
Chief Operating Officer, DBS Singapore
Gary Tan is the Chief Operating Officer for Group Legal, Compliance & Secretariat and the Head of
Singapore Compliance at DBS Bank Ltd (DBS). He is also a member of DBS Singapore Management
Committee. Prior to joining DBS in 2011, Mr Tan was the Head of Market Conduct Policy in the
Monetary Authority of Singapore with more than 10 years of experience covering banking supervision,
policy formulation and strategic planning.
Tan holds a Master of Science in Economics for Development from Oxford University and a BA in
Economics from Yale University.

Welson Jamin
Executive Director Technology and Operations, DBS Bank Singapore
Welson Jamin has 20 years of experience in the technology and operations area in the financial industry.
Welson is currently the head of Regional Cash operations team within Technology and Operations in
DBS Bank. In this role, Welson is responsible in driving process improvements and alignment for Cash
operations across 13 countries covering more than 400 staff. He had overseen the implementation of
regional payments platform and established a testing centre-of-excellence to enable end-to-end, multilocations testing capability to accelerate pace of digitisation in operations
Prior to this role, Welson was involved in the setup of an integrated Corporate Customer Service,
unifying the various servicing touch-points for corporate customers, resulting in improved customer
experience. The team had subsequently been awarded Gold in the Best In-house Customer Centre
award by CCAS.
Welson had led several technology infrastructure projects including setup of new branches
infrastructure, network and telephony migration and core banking upgrade projects. He had also been
involved in merger integration projects in Singapore and Taiwan.
In the early years of his career, Welson held various responsibilities in the area of data centre operations
including storage management, output management, change management and production control.
Welson graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and
holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
