    Women Empowerment in India : Issues & Challenges

    Abstract : In the 21st century, Women empowerment has become one of the most important
    concerns. Women are the vital human infrastructure and their empowerment does make changes
    in the development scenario of a nation like India (Kunhaman, 2002) but practically women
    empowerment is still an illusion of reality as one can observes how women become victimized
    by various social evils.
    Women empowerment as an important tool expands the ability of women to have resources for
    making strategic choices in life. It is an essential process for status upliftment of women in
    economic, social and political aspects.
    This paper attempts to analyze the status of Women Empowerment in India and highlights the
    Issues and Challenges of Women Empowerment.
    The study reveals that access to education & training, employment and changes in social
    structure are only the enabling factors to Women Empowerment.
