2016 National Science and Technology Week

Philippines: "Juan Science, One Nation
Last July 25, 2016 around eleven oclock in the morning we went to the
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to witness the 2016 National Science
and Technology Week (NSTW) at Gen. Santos Avenue Bicutan, Taguig City with
the theme Juan Science, One Nation. This is to promote the use of Science,
technology and innovation to improve the quality of human life, save the environment
and enhance the practice of appreciating and understanding the concepts of Science in
our daily living.
This years NSTW featured word-class innovation technologies of the S&T
sectors aligned to the ASEAN Economic Integration. The event highlighted the eight
S&T Based outcomes for agriculture; micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs);
industry; information technology business process management (IT-BPM0; egovernment services; health education; and climate change disaster preparedness that
will help move the country towards competitive advantage in the global economic
scenario. As a future Mechanical Engineer Ive seen a lot of amazing exhibits there,
which are well presented and intellectually created for our own benefits. They also have
many activities like technology forums, demonstrations, interactive and other special
events that I enjoyed so much.
Seeing those incredible innovations really makes me think that we have the
ability to resolve different problem in our economy through innovating new technologies
and ideas that doesnt exist yet. This NSTW is very helpful because it gives every one
of us a knowledge that everything is possible as long as we are determinate in what we
do. That we have the ability enhance, innovate and promote the use of Science.
Moreover, it also promotes awareness in our economic resources that technologies
must conform to the laws and standards, and must be eco-friendly in a way that it will
not cause problem in our ecosystem. My whole experience was so amazing and I am
beyond grateful being there not just because of the incredible innovations that Ive seen
there, but also because Ive learned so much and that is the most important thing that I
am thankful of.
