place P-Con ROH: Fig 4
Remove the four screws holding the lid onto the PFC F-Con body and renove Lid
Carefully renove the ROM from the ROM socket by holding the top and bottom edges of the RUM
(the odges with NO CONTACT PINS) with your thumb and index finger and gently work it out of
the socket. Be careful not to damage the surrounding components on the P.C.board. Do not
danage the original ROM in case VPC components are to be resoved. A ROK pulling tool,
available at better electronic supply stores, will make this task auch easier
Install the ROX according to the following procedures and precautions:
. Never touch any portion of the contact pins on the sides of the ROH.
{Hold the ROK at the top and bottom edges (where there are no contact pins) with your thuab
and index finger. DO NOT HOLD THE ROM in any other fashion.
. Never place the ROM on a magnetized or static electricity charged surface. If you need to
set the ROX down, lay in on a vood or thick cardboard surface.
Gently place the ROM contact pins so each pin Lines up with the corresponding hole in the
ROM socket on the PFC F-Con circuit board. The ROM aust be installed in the right direction
Line up the small notch in the center of the end of the ROM with the corresponding notch in
the ROK socket om the PFC F-Con circuit board. If the pins are spread too far apart to
properly line up, remove the ROX and place the pins squary 3 wood or thick
vardboard surface and gently push the pins towards the center of 04 until the spacing
matches the width of the ROH socket. DO NOT oush too hard since the pins can easily become
to far bent over or break off.
When the ins are properly lined up. oush the ROK into the socket very slightly. Yake sure
that each pin is partially inserted into the correct hole. [f everything is properly lined
up. push the ROM all the way into the socket until it is proverly seated
B. NEVER, under any circumstances, remove the sticker on top of the ROM. Removal of this
sticker may deprogram the ROXWhile the PPC P-Con cover is still removed, use a snall jevelers screwdriver and adjust dip
switch NO.2 to channel 0.
CAUTION: Do Kot adjust any other switches.
- Reinstall lid and PFC P-Con.
- Reconnect negative side of battery.
. Start vehicle to check idle condition at cold and normal operating temperatures. Lf a problea
occurs recheck installation.
Test drive vehicle for proper acceleration through the rpa band under vacuum and pressure. If
the vehicle runs poorly check -installation of VPC system and/or PFC F-Con.
