Student Government Senate Passes BIG XII Expansion Resolution

September 7, 2016 - Ames, Iowa - Student Governments goal is to create a safe and all-inclusive
campus where students feel supported to learn, grow and succeed. The Senate finds that Brigham
Young Universitys Honor Code does not communicate nor reflect the values that The Big XII
Conference represents. Therefore, the Senate of Student Government does not support BYUs
membership bid to the Big XII at this time.
The Senate resolution was passed by a vote of 21-6 in the Senate on Wednesday, September 7,
2016. Each Senator represents students within their respective Colleges and Residencies, and thus
the resolution reflects the views of the majority of the student body. The resolution will be sent to
all Big XII university presidents and the Big XII commissioner.
