HILLCRESTMORE SUPER SUNDAYS MONTHLY ART EVENT IN HILLCREST


INTRODUCTION
We at MORE SUPER believe art is all around us and should be exposed! Our
goal is to promote and showcase art and artists along with local businesses.


We’ve created MORE SUPER SUNDAYS to enable local artists to display and
sell their work right here in Hillcrest!


WHAT IS MORE SUPER SUNDAYS?

a
monthly
community
summer

event
that
features
local
San
Diego
artists.
Allowing
event
goers
to
walk
through

a
four-block
portion
of
Hillcrest
to
view
art,
enjoy
entertainment
and
eat
at

featured
restaurants
and
take
advantage
of
offers
specific
to
the
event.
On
the

second
Sunday
of
each
month,
June
–
October
MORE
SUPER
(with
support

from
The
Hillcrest
Association ),
will
feature
new
and
repeat
artists,

business
and
food;
always
keeping
it
fresh
from
one
month
to
the
next.

purchase art and explore venues along the event path

WHO IS MORE SUPER?
• MORE
SUPER
ART
EVENTS,
was
conceived
and
generated
by
Jill

Johnson,
a
Hillcrest
resident,
artist
and
art
lover.
MORE
SUPER
has
been

organizing
art
events
for
the
past
two
years
and
is
continuing
well
into
2008.


Each
event
varies
in
concept
and
location.

MORE
SUPER
EVENTS
are
held
@

local
San
Diego
venues.
“During
 events,
 we’ve
 increased
 sales
 and
 gained
 much

exposure
to
the
individual
venues
and
artists
that
have
carried

over
 into
 continued
 sales
 by
 making
 new
 people
 aware
 of
 the

art/bars/restaurants/shops.”

EVENT DETAILS
LOCATION:

• University Avenue (cross street: Richmond Street to Normal) 


EVENT TIME:


• 2PM – 8PM; Load-in time Noon

THE SCENE:

• Artist spaces provided along the walkways

• A free event for visitors to attend 

• A street show of multiple artists and local venues
• Various entertainment during the event
• Lively, Current, Easy-Going-Sunday. Similar to a local market, street
festival, or holiday event.

ARTISTS ELIGIBLITY

• All forms of artwork are acceptable for submission including, but not
limited to: paintings, photography, fashion, sculpture, and jewelry.

• Artist to apply directly to MORE SUPER with proper forms and
documents on or before application + fees due date

• Space provided is 10x5 (space is approx as size will vary with

walkway and specific location)

• NOTE: No display/electricity is provided

• Artist provides display for safe and aesthetically pleasing showcase of
work (to be approved by MORE SUPER)

• Artist provides all materials necessary for showing and is responsible for
its security and safety during HILLCREST MORE SUPER SUNDAYS
• Artist responsible for any insurance individually
• SUGGESTIONS FOR DISPLAY:
 Event is held outdoors, so please take precautions to ensure
the safety of your work
 The event is to be held during hot summer months, please
consider an umbrella or shade structure to protect work and
yourself
 Tables/Easels/Wire Hanging for some spaces

PROMOTIONS/MARKETING

• Promotions by MORE SUPER EVENTS and The Hillcrest Association to

include:

 Radio
 Television
 5,000 Professionally designed and distributed Flyers
 Large email database blasts from both and from sponsor support
such as Mo’s, Baja Betty’s and more

 Hundreds of online event listings
 Include Social Networking such as FaceBook/MySpace
 Local Publications
 Banner and sandwich boards posted during and before event

• We expect to have exposure to up to 36,000 people by the end

of October and 18,000 participating.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

• Upon application, applicant to provide:

 $25 application fee (non-refundable, to be put toward your final cost if
approved as a moResUper Sundays artist)
 Money Order/Cashier Check/Pay Pal/Credit Cards all acceptable for
event fees.
 3-5 JPGs of work wished to be displayed (emailed to
jiLL@moresuper.com)

 100 words or less Artist Bio
 Images of display to be used during MORE SUPER SUNDAYS
(emailed to: jiLL@moresuper.com)

 Incomplete entries will not be processed

Rules and Regulations

1.
 All
artwork
must
be
original.
Prints
of
original
artwork
may
be
displayed.

Paintings
reproduced
from
the
works
of
masters,
photographs,
or

advertisements,
etc.
are
not
allowed.
All
work
must
be
attributable
solely
to
the

applicant.

2.
 Work
exhibited
must
only
be
works
comparable
in
style
and
quality
to
those

approved
by
MORE
SUPER.
Any
other
work
will
not
be
allowed.

3.
 Live
demonstrations
of
the
artist’s
work
are
encouraged
but
must
be
approved

by
MORE
SUPER
prior
to
the
show.

4.
 All
exhibiting
artists
are
responsible
for
their
own
property
in
the
event
of
loss,

damage
or
personal
injury.
Artist
shall
be
liable
for
delivering,
handling,
erecting,

optional
lighting
and
removal
of
the
artist’s
display
and
materials.
All
pertinent

fire
codes,
laws,
ordinances
and
regulations
pertaining
to
health,
fire
prevention

and
pubic
safety
shall
be
strictly
obeyed.

5.
 An
application
is
a
commitment
to
show.
No
refunds
or
withdrawals


6.
 All
sales
by
individual
artists
are
subject
to
California
sales
tax
law.
Payment
of

sales
tax
is
the
responsibility
of
the
artist.

7.
 NO
PETS
belonging
to
the
exhibiting
artists
are
permitted
within
the
confines
of

the
event.

8.


MORE
SUPER
SUNDAYS
is
an
outdoor,
public
event
for
visitors
of
all
ages.


Artwork
must
be
in
keeping
with
this
atmosphere.

Artwork
will
be
reviewed

throughout
the
event
to
assure
the
MORE
SUPER
SUNDAY
rules
are
followed.


MORE
SUPER
will
have
sole
discretion
regarding
the
removal
of
works
in

violation.

9.

MORE
SUPER
promotes
the
event,
assigns
exhibit
space,
oversees
the
event
from

load
in
to
load
out.

10.

Exhibitors
will
present
a
professional
and
congenial
demeanor
at
all
times.

Any

unbecoming
conduct
during
MORE
SUPER
SUNDAYS
will
result
in
immediate

removal.

11.
MORE
SUPER
reserves
the
right
to
use
artist
images
for
the
purpose
of

promotion
for
MORE
SUPER
SUNDAYS.

12.
All
work
must
be
complete
and
appropriate
for
show.

13.
Artist
is
responsible
for
providing
accurate
contact
information,
adhering
to

deadlines
and
responding
to
communication
in
a
timely
fashion.

14.
No
distribution
of
literature
or
promotional
items
may
be
done
outside
of
your

assigned
space.

15.
Artist
is
responsible
for
maintaining
a
clean
area
within
and
surrounding
space.

16.
No
consumption
of
alcohol
is
allowed
on
walkways
or
in
space
provided.

17.
IMPORTANT

remember
you
will
be
OUTSIDE.

that
into
consideration
for
securing

work
ie:
wind,
sun,
etc.

event. I further agree that if any changes be occasioned, or loss or damage occurs from articles and/ or persons that
may enter, that I make no claim against the City of San Diego, the Hillcrest Association, moResUper, event committee
members or other persons associated with the event for any personal injury or property damage arising, occasioned by
or caused by any employee, representative or entry of mine. No refunds in case of inclement weather, acts of nature or
restrictions by government agencies to cancel the event, over which Hillcrest moResUper Sundays has no control.
