Create A CNN TV News Report!

Introduction (5 minutes)
Introduce myself to the students
Watch a short The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey movie trailer
Explanation of Activity (10 minutes)
Explain the activity: Students will be seated in groups of 5-6 people and create
and write their own CNN TV news report dialogues (1 per group). Each
groups dialogue will be between the characters, i.e., news anchorman/woman,
2 reporters, and the remainder of the group will play the role of moviegoers.
Students will then perform their dialogues in English for the class using as
many of the new vocabulary as they can. Groups will compete with each other
for the most points.
Open forum for student questions.
Discussion of key movie vocabulary definitions (15 minutes)
Groups create/write their dialogues (20 minutes)
Student performances (30 minutes)
