Small Organization (Breath of Experience) - and I can work on s
optimizing the data base

What can you tell me about the company?

Sure! E&Y is a professional services firm and one of the Big
Four, the others being Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC. What sets
you apart from the other four is the Globalization, you have
four global regions and each has its own independent
management structure, as opposed to the other competitors
which are more centralized.
There's four parts, Assurances, Tax, Advisory, and TAS
(which is the one that I'm going for). TAS stands for
Transaction Advisory Services, which helps with capital
agenda.

Why do you want to work here at E&Y?

It comes down to core values, which was very well aligned
with what I had. I've learned a long time ago that an
organization is only as good as its people. It's about the
people.
Building a better working world

Who we are
People who demonstrate integrity, respect, and teaming.
People with energy, enthusiasm, and the courage to lead.
People who build relationships based on doing the right thing.

I believe that the best way to instruct is from a small and

tightly knit base, and this is why E&Y is a perfect fit to my
working philosophy.

What do you know about TAS?

TAS is one of the four principals within E&Y. it focuses on
corporate development, transaction tax support, real estate,
company valuation and business modeling, working capital,
and operational transaction services, restructuring.
The reasoning here is that business evoles and never stays
stagnant. Even if a client is stable one moment, will never
gauarantee that next fiscal year. Because you have to make
money, there's lots of factors: Profit, which is an indication of
revenue VS costs. Fixed costs, variable cost. market sizing,
market share. External factors like the economy or industry,
or internals like corporate structure and strategy.

what do you know about the OTS?

If I remember correctly, the OTS group focuses on
maximizing the value created from a transaction, primarily by
trying to maximize operating efficiencies, minimize costs,
and help get the most out of the potential synergies avaiable
between two firms (in the event of a merger or acquisition).

Why consulting?
I have little to know business background, coming straight
out of the IT. However, in the IT I learned about problems.
I've noticed that I would be consulted to resolve lots of
problems, I want to 1) help people solve problems and 2)
learn about the business environment. And that's what
consulting does, you work with different areas, different
companies, and different types of people, and tackle on
problems. I feel that this "general" format is best suited to
educate me as I move forward into the business
environment. You eat, breath, sleep it. I want to learn the
most possible in the minimum amount of time, and that's

why management consulting is something I am very much

looking for.

What motivates you?

the fact that I have established good experiences, and I want
to pass on what I've learned..
I look back and see where I was, where I am now, and
where I'm going forward. That's why I want to help people,
and that's why I want

hard work or talent?

hard work, by far. While talent is icing on the cake, it is not
the primary requisite.
Expertise arises through training and practice within a
specific area. You want expert? Train for 10,000 hours

Do you need to be an expert at something in order to lead

a team?
While being an expert at something is important, what is
important is leadership, communication skills, and charisma.
Leading from the front.
Just because you're an expert doesn't mean you have the
necessary leadership or people skills.
Chief VS Officer.

do you ask for more responsibility?

Yes I do. The way I see it, I am accountable to three things:
the mission, the team, and to myself. If I don't do something,
it is not just me, everyone suffers.

Do people listen to your advice.

It really depends on the context. If I would just blurt out and
impose, in that context no. That's why I don't hand out

advice.
But if people come to me and ask, it means they have a
question and issue that I truy want to solve. That's why I take
it seriously. which is why most people do take my advice. I

Do you plan your week?

See my schedule, list where I put my priorites (homework,
workout), and in other times, I adapt. There's no time to eat
lunch, hell I'll just eat in class.

How do you handle working with someone you don't like?

First of all, I see it as a way to change my opinion about that
person. I've had many people of which I didn't have a good
first impression, but working with them turned my opinion
around

Tell me about your groups of friends?

We're all aggressive, accomplished, but very socialable, and
extroverted.
I tend to me an introverted person, and I feel that being with
people helps me be a better people person.

Do you talk to different groups of friends differently?

Why would you be better than other people?
I bring a diverse and unique background to the table.
I bring to E&Y a unique experience and a story of
succeeding against odds,

What do you think makes a good concept/theory?

One that makes me wonder if I can approach it in a
differeent way.

How do you deal with people who waste your time

One, I'll still be polite, but more importantly, I'll see what pros
he has. how it would leverage that to his advantage. For

example, just because someone isn't a good in math doesn't

mean he's bad in debate.

Do you enjoy working in a team.

Definately. I have the experience taking charge of a team,
but I also have the discipline to function as a member of a
team as well. I've seen both sides of the Navy in this
capacity, and well adept at both.

Have you ever wanted to quit something?

Yes I have, I had survivor's guilt after I nearly got killed and a
friend of mine got. For a month, I just wanted to finish the
job.

Do you give up easily?

HELL NO.

How do you make others feel confident in your abilities?

Simple. I lead from the front, and I don't ask anyone to do
what I have not done first.

Do you think it's better to fully understand an idea or

apply it straight away?
I think both ave their merits, for me personally, it would be I
would spend a majority of time learning, and then I do it on
the go. It's the difference between Being Prepared and just
overtraining for just the sake of it.

Do you prefer learning theory or putting it into practice?

Putting it into practice is the best for me. If I just read a book
it just go through my ears. if I do, the action, my though
process, my memories and takeaways, that lasts forever.

How do you make sure you always do your best?

Simple. I see it as this. I am accountable to the mission, to
my team, and to myself. If I've satisfied all requirements,
then I've done something right

What have you contributed to a team to help their

When I selected Super Hornets in flight training. It was my
proudest achievement, because it symbolized everything I
did, to that point, which the Navy said I was worthy of such
an endeavor.

Are you a good listener?

Yes, I operate by what some would call "Keep your eyes and
ears open, and your mouth shut". I am very observant and
seeing others, I see how they do, I access the situation, and
I adapt it to myself.

How would a lecturer describe you?

I say he would describe me as quiet, humble, but when I say
something, people listen. It's am amazing situation being
with my classmates, I feel that I'm not as good as them not
being in a business world, so I really try hard to say
something smart and contribute in a way that not helps
them, but also everyoe in general

Do you work at something to get to the heart of the

matter or just leave it?
I am extremely tenacious.

PWC

Best for audit: PWC

If audit is your area, PwC is the biggest firm on a global scale. In 2015,
PWC made $15.2n from its audit business, compared to $11.3bn at EY.
PWC has traditionally been more reliant on its audit business than other
firms although it tried to address this in 2014, when it acquired
consulting firm Booz & Co to boost its consuting revenues

Best for consulting and advisory: Deloitte

If PWC is an audit machine, Deloitte is its consulting equivalent. Although
all Big Four firms are now trying to build their consulting practices,
Deloitte had a serious head-start after retaining its consulting business in
the early 2000s. As a result, Deloittes consulting business alone
generated $12.2bn in revenues last year, However, PWCs newly bulkedup consulting arm was close behind, with $11.2bn in in revenues in 2015.

Best for prestige: PwC

By all accounts, PwC is the best Big Four firm if you put a premium on
prestige and generally impressing other people. PwC came first in
the Vaults latest ranking of top accounting firms and has done so for
many years. Deloitte came second (displacing EY), EY came third and
KPMG came fifth behind Grant Thornton. PwC has historically been seen
as having the best clients, says the UK accounting recruiter (this may
change since the introduction of mandatory audit rotations in the EU). The

prestige that comes with working at PwC is a big reason for working
there according to employees who spoke to the Vault.

What area interests you within the firm?

I'm interested in Advisory and Assurance in the financial services industries. I find
business strategy and business issues very interesting but don't know if it's realistic
to get into advisory without experience. Also very interested in analyzing company
financials and internal controls, etc. and so interested in Assurance. 31% of the
firm revenue is in financial services industry and I feel my investment experience
gives me more knowledge there. I also know from experience that regulation and
accounting differences make accounting in financial services more complex and I
like the challenge. Lots of data and technology opportunity for processes and
automation. NYC office because I'm from 90 minutes from there and would prefer
to live somewhat close to my family. Two young nephews that I want to be around
for.

PwC solves very complex problems for a plethora of clients. To me, that is process
heaven. The firm has very strong Vault and Glassdoor scores. That tells me that
PwC is a great organization adding societal value for many parties - employees,
clients, investors and creditors, regulators, etc. On a more personal note, everyone
I've spoken to about PwC particularly mentions what I call "the culture of
competence." Everyone you work with is highly intelligent and competent. Everyone
can count on each other. I don't feel I'm perfect, but believe I am able of performing
at a high level in an analytical environment. I think I can be someone who others
count on and I think I'd find fulfillment in that role. I also think about PwC like I would
a potential investment. The company has significant competitive advantages through
its reputation for excellence and client relationships and is in an industry where
switching costs are high and supply is limited by regulation and such. I think it will
continue to do very well and I want to be part of that and contribute to the success.
