Target Audience

My prior research into title sequences has helped me to decide on what is our
desired target audience. By looking at similar genres i can see the techniques used
in the film openings and how they reach out to a specific target audience and some
of the scenes really highlight what range of ages they are aiming to impact the most.
From my preliminary research me and my group have decided to have a target
audience of 15-40 leaving our film at a BBFC rating of 15. This is because war
genres appeal to the young adults since war gaming platform is so popular and
additionally war is an extremely popular genre with older people. This is why we will
target the film at this age group and to do so we will use mature scenes such as
bloody wounds to add a gore effect to appeal to older generation rather than people
below the age of 15. Stereotypically the war genre attracts men more than women
however no efforts have been made to try and just appeal to men so this widens our
target audience.
After looking at Band of Brothers, Fury and Pacific i managed to take away some
of the techniques used in the title sequence. They used dark colours in the shots too
connote a sadness which implied suffering and the fact there are connotations of
suffering there must be violence which appeals to my target audience. The way they
use highly contrasting red colour as well helps create this effect. Another thing is
having images and videos of active violence is a popular technique which would help
keep the target audience interested.
