At first, although I was not much impressed by the novels preview, I still bought it and
started to read the story right after getting home. Surprisingly, the more I read The
Godfather, the more it appealed to me. This novel told the story of an
Italian imaginary character named Vito Corleone, who was a mafia
boss in America after World War I. What attracted me in this story was the way the
author described Vito tricks to survive in a chaotic society.

During my stay in Singapore, I did some shopping and visited places like the Singapore
zoo and botanic garden. My cousin also took me to the Universal Studios in Singapore.
The public transport system in Singapore is pretty reliable. You dont have to spend
hours waiting for buses or trains. People are warm and friendly. Another thing that I
liked about Singapore is its multi-cultural nature. During the ten days that I spent in
Singapore I came across people from many different nations. The city is lively even
after the sun goes down. People are always walking in the streets making you feel safe.
Many shops are open 24 hours. I spent only ten days in Singapore but I would have liked
to stay longer.

It was the year 2002 when I passed my school board final exam. I can't recall the exact
month the result was published but that would be either January or February.
Since the success was a part of my academic study and exam and not related to any
extracurricular activity, I would say it happened naturally and I had no involvement in
choosing it. To say more specifically, if someone achieves some successes in
photography or in art, s/he has some history how and why she came to photography or
art, what was the motivation etc. but for me that success was an academic success and I
did not have to choose anything. I needed to study attentively, though. I followed a rigid
study routine for a couple of years and that helped me achieve this success. I would say
that it was easy to achieve as I had a planned routine that I followed and I enjoyed
reading my academic lessons. I have devoted a great deal of time reading academic
books, reference books, different magazines related to subjects, took note, did group
discussions and other activities and all those activities helped me to achieve this success.

As a frequent moviegoer, I watch a lot of films. One of the movies that I enjoyed the
most recently was The Martian.

The movie was based on a novel of the same title by Andy Weir. Just like many other scifi films, it was about man travelling in space, however, this time, our main character
was stuck on Mars due to a dust storm which nearly killed him. All of
the crewmates thought that he was dead, so they went back to Earth without him. But
fortunately he was still alive, thus two and a half hours of the movie told the story of how
he fought for his life in the brutal environment of Mars, until NASA devised a plan to
rescue him.

My best friend is a big fan of astronomy, so she had read the novel before. That is why
she insisted on me going to see the movie with her. After watching
the trailer and reading the plot, I was hooked. It was maybe the best two and a half
hours of my week so far.

After watching the movie, I was amazed at how ingenious and strong humans can be
when it comes to a life and death situation. Mark Watney, the hero of the movie, was a

perfect portrayal of a young, humorous, brilliant and skillful engineer cum botanist.
Although the hostile environment of Mars threatened his existence many times,
he relentlessly refused to quit. Instead, he overcame one problem at a time until he was
successfully rescued. The message that I learned from the film is never to give up,
however hopeless things seem to be.

Staying in good shape is everyones concern and I am no exception. To be honest, I

have been so caught up in my study since I entered university that I have a problem in
organizing my daily routine. However, I have been participating in a yoga class for
about 2 years, which takes me only 1 hour a day, to try to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Unlike dancing or running, yoga definitely involves stretching actions. You might look
at yoga and think that it is light and easy but it is more demanding than it appears. Yoga
allows me to work on all the parts of my body. It can burn a lot of calories in just one
hour of training. Also, it enhances my flexibility and suppleness in every single
movement.
What I enjoy the most about yoga is meditation. It is all about regulating your
breathing and helping you take things off your mind easily. Another thing is that doing
yoga is supposed to be good for curing headaches and digestion related problems, so it
benefits not only physical well-being but also mental health.
By maintaining a schedule of taking part in the yoga class on a daily basis, I feel
extremely relaxed and full of energy after the class. It helps me to keep fit and refresh
my mind after a long stressful day. And of course, I dont see myself stopping practicing
this activity any time soon.

Well, Im a great fan of barbecues and I would like to talk about the first time I tried
some typical barbecue food. This happened when I was 10 years old.
My family went out to have dinner to celebrate my younger sisters birthday.After
putting so much thought into some new savory food to have for our meal, we decided to
go to a BBQ restaurant on Ba Trieu street.
We ordered four dishes with three different tastes. One of them whichreally interested
me was grilled-Australian beef, flavoured withsomething spicy, rich and aromatic. It
not only tasted delicious, butalso looked appealing. Also, it went well with two kinds of
dipping sauces and was served with baguettes. There was also a salad, which gave it a
mild taste to contrast with the spicy flavors.
The idea of a barbecue originated in America, and for us it was a novel and
sophisticated meal.
What I really enjoyed was that we could watch as it was cooked in front of us. I loved
how juicy it was and the aroma it had. Just mentioning it makes my mouth water. I
mean, the BBQ was out of this world. That was the first time I had tried it, and I would
have liked to have kept on coming back for more, but I was just too full.

Well I guess I could start off by pointing something about the type of the program.
Actually nowadays I dont watch television that often but I used to be a couch potato in
high school years. I remember sitting in front of the TV and channel surfed until I sound

something interesting. One day, a documentary on Discovery Channel named The
Sacrifice of Genius caught my entire attention.
I really have to add that this program was a serial that consists of 10 episodes. It
mainly emphasized on telling the sacrificing life stories of some well respected
scientists in the world such as Louis Pastuer and Marie Curie. By their great passion in
researching, those incredible people had gone through so many adversities in order to
devote themselves to science.
With reference to how often I watched it, as far as I remember, this documentary
was broadcasted every Thursday. I was so passionate about it that no matter how busy I
was, I managed to watch the box at 9 pm on Thursday.
Although it is a really interesting program, it was not very prevalent during that time. I
guess this is because people are often more fond of entertaining programs, rather than
academic ones. But after all, this program inspired me a lot and provoke my persistence
sense especially when I encounter difficulties in life.

One of my best friends has a 3-year-old baby girl; so every time we went out, she would
take her with us. Her little girl is such a witty kid, and she is always full of energy. As
she begins to be aware of the outside world, she asks a lot of questions just to satisfy her
curiosity.

It happened one day when we went out shopping. While her mother and I took
turns trying clothes on, she was sitting quietly on the bench. Then she looked at me and
her mother and started to express her opinions on our clothes.

The way she talked was so funny that we could not stop laughing. She was so used to
playing with her Barbie doll that she suggested we should dress like one of her dolls. She
even taught us how to walk like models because she thought that was pretty.

All the customers who walked in the store noticed her, even the store owner couldnt
stop laughing at her since she was still a baby girl, but she talked and acted like
