Devised theatre evaluation

Now that i have had a chance to study and perform devised theatre, i am confident enough to
say that i can perform devised theatre with ease. the rehearsals were generally amazing, i felt
as though myself and everyone in all of the groups i was assigned in got on with the task at
hand efficiently and effectively, working hard and with confidence, there was no arguing in
our groups which was great to see. there was a bit of commitment issues in the other groups,
mainly due to sickness which cannot be avoided, i had to cover one of the groups because a
main character in their group was very sick, but there was some people that did not want to
show up which i know from past experience is very annoying because it prevent others doing
their work. if i had the chance to change anything about it, i would make sure that everyone
had a chance to offer their ideas to our group because i got the feeling that a couple of people
did not get their ideas to the group, whereas other people were always coming up with ideas.
the scenes we did were more or less done, there were just small things we needed to look out
for and a bit of modifying to do order to make the scenes as good as they can be. one of our
scenes was originally two minutes which was very long and didnt need to be, so we cut out
all of the unnecessary stuff, which took it down to forty five seconds and it made all the
difference.

The day of the performance was absolutely amazing if a little bit nerve racking, everyone was
present so commitment wasnt an issue, no one was messing around which was amazing
because everyone was giving advice to other peoples performances and demonstrating other
ways to make the scenes better. everyone seemed very confident and ready for the show at
this point which was a good sign. during the performance when one of my groups scene was
playing, i was meant to give my blazer to Jamie before the start of the next scene but the
music indicating the next scene was already playing, at first i was confused but i knew that i
coud not break away from character so i improvised and hoped that no one would notice,
luckily they didnt. there was comedy for both adult and children so there were lots of
laughing throughout the performance, it was a good thing that no one lost concentration and
started to laugh, otherwise it would have been a disaster. if i had the choice to do it again, i
would make sure that my vocals were much louder, meaning i would have to make sure to
project my voice more, i also need to make sure my timings are more accurate in order to
make the scene even more effective. overall i think that the experience was amazing and i
would ove to do it again
