Early Life
Gordon James Ramsay was born on November 8, 1966, in Glasgow, Scotland and raise

his sights on a professional sports career. At the age of 15, the gifted Ramsay
joined a professional team, the Glasgow Rangers.
His time together with the team crossed three years, until 1985, when his career
was ended by a knee injury. Forced to start over, Ramsay returned to school and
got a degree in hotel management in 1987.
Top Chef and Entrepreneur
Gordon Ramsay put himself under the direction of some of Europe's top chefs afte
r completing his studies. He was an apprentice at Harvey's in London together wi
th Marco Pierre White, worked for Albert Roux at Le Gavroche, and then worked in
France under master chefs Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon.
As head chef of the recently opened Aubergine in London, Ramsay struck out by hi
mself in 1993 where, over the course of three years, he earned the restaurant a
two star rating from Michelin. More honor followed in 1995, when Ramsay was give
n Newcomer of the Year in the esteemed Catey Awards, an Oscars-like occasion for
the hotel and restaurant business.
Ramsay started his own business, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in 1998 in London and
left Aubergine when the financial backing of the restaurant became unstable. Ha
iled as a destination for high end foodies, the restaurant received a three star
rating from Michelin.
For the hard-driven, ambitious and temperemental Ramsay, the next several years

Point, which trailed his working life. The success of that documentary spawned a
follow up mini-series, Beyond Boiling Point, in 2000.
Ramsey hosted two programs in the spring of 2004: In Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares
, he sought to turn around failing restaurants, and in Hell s Kitchen, a cooking c

With reality t.v. being a big hit in the U.S., the time was perfect for Ramsay t
o make his move across the Atlantic. In May 2005, an American variant of Hell's
Kitchen, which put aspiring restaurateurs under the extreme eye of the host of t

tmares, which debuted in September 2007. That consequently led to the American v
ersion of Master Chef (2010) and Master Chef Junior(2013), with Ramsay heading t
he group of judges. With Hotel Hell, he added another show in 2012, a variation
