Subject: Request for a time slot to introduce Akshaya Patra and inaugural Session of
Jijnasa at IIT, Indore

I am pleased to introduce to you our organization, which is involved in various social

intervention programs. Under the banner of Akshaya Patra, we run the worlds
largest mid-day meal program which is the only Indian NGO, till date, to be chosen as
a Harvard Business School case study. Akshaya Patra caters to around 1.4 million
school children across 20 locations in 9 states of India, and has won accolades from
the likes of Barack Obama, Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton and others. Recently The
Government of India conferred upon Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman of The Akshaya
Patra Foundation the prestigious Padma Shri. The award has been conferred in
recognition of the distinguished service rendered by Akshaya Patra for the children of
India. The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) has been bestowed upon the Nikkei Asia
Prize for supporting education by nourishing children, thus playing a pivotal role in
the socioeconomic development of the region.
Today, from a socio-economic perspective, India is at the cross-roads of development.
The stories in the media on Indian becoming the heads of major global tech
companies and educational institutes of repute show that the brilliance,
entrepreneurial spirit and hard-working talented Indians have largely contributed to a
greater acceptance and respect for India across the globe. However, somewhere
along the journey, we seem to have lost our way on the moral and ethical front. From
being a celebrated land of sages and saintly rulers of impeccable character, today we
see a rising graph of crime, corruption and inequities in our country. These pressing
issues seem to eclipse the progress we have achieved in other areas.
To address this crucial aspect, we have now commenced a Value-based life
awareness drive for the students and young professionals. Under this program, we
organize weekly seminars in the premier educational institutes of India. The seminar
provide startling clarity and deep analysis of the relevance of the ancient value
systems to the modern world. The weekly seminars based on the timeless Indian
wisdom and the spiritual worldview, aims to facilitate the making of responsible
global leaders imbued with sublime values. We are already conducting these
workshops in IISc Bangalore, IIM Indore, IIM Amritsar, SRCC, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi,
IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, NIT Surat, NIT Calicut and NIT Surathkal to name a few. F
or past 3
years we have receive very good response from the students at IIM, Indore.

JIJNASA WEEKLY SESSIONS:

We conduct weekly sessions on Morality, Ethics, Spirituality and Character
development from Bhagavad-gita under the module JIJNASA at more than 110
colleges in India without charging anything from the students. The topics to be
discussed in the sessions, copies of appreciation letters from SRCC-Delhi and
PEC-Chandigarh are also attached to this mail.
Jijnasa is a weekly programme designed as a series of eighteen presentations each
touching upon a vital aspect of spiritual understanding. Gleaned from the timeless
books of Vedic wisdom, the Jijnasa modules have been tailored to appeal to the
scientific mind. The enduring relevance of the eternal truths amply illustrated with
rich contemporary examples elucidate the subject matter to students unfamiliar with
the topics.
The inaugural topic is Decoding Spirituality. The speaker would draw insight into the
topic from his own unique experiences in spiritual practice making the presentation
vivid and inspiring. Speaking of the relevance of spiritual life in the contemporary
context and about creating a spiritual - material balance, the speaker will actively
involve the students in a stimulating discussion. The students will also be introduced
to the scientific process of Meditation. At the end snacks will be distributed to all the
students.
We would like to have a talk on the Akshaya Patra programme and an inaugural
seminar of JIJNASA with the topic DECODING SPIRITUALITY at IIT, Indore. We
would like to invite top officials of AKSHAYA PATRA and from the corporate
world to share their experiences about Akshaya Patra and in the domain of
SPIRITUALITY. Once the dates are confirmed, I would share the profiles of the
speakers to all of you.
