Tadka Arhar recipe

cup toor/arhar dal


cup masoor dal or chana dal
1 onion sliced
1 tomato chopped
1 tbsp ginger garlic chopped
tsp chilli powder
1 green chilli choop
Pinch turmeric
Salt to taste
1 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
Tempering: 1tbsp ghee, cumin, chopped garlic, 2 dry red chillies, hing/asafotedia

1) Add toor dal and masoor or chana dal and add 1.5 -2 cups of water in a
pressure cooker and cook until 4 whistles
2) Heat 1tbsp ghee in a pan and add sliced onions saut until brown. Add
ginger garlic, green chillies and fry for a min and then add chopped
tomatoes and cook until soft
3) Add cooked dal and add water for required consistency and cook for a few
minutes. Add chopped coriander
4) In separate pan do tempering add ghee, and fry cumin, chopped garlic, 2
dry red chillies, hing
5) Add to the earlier cooked dal
