As part of the City Region Deal, in partnership with Aberdeenshire council we are preparing a proposal ‘on how we will spend the funds assigned to Digital, and in particular connectivity. The project team has undertaken a “gap analysis” for the drive to work areas within the City and Aberdeenshire. This “gap analysis” looked at what broadband speeds were currently available in these areas on a premises basis, much more detailed than at a postcode level which was undertaken previously. The telecommunications operators in these areas were also asked what their future roll out plans were for these areas. The outcome of this “gap analysis" has highlighted the areas that have poor connectivity. The proposal for the City Region Deal would be to use the funds to provide the infrastructure for ultrafast broadband in these specific areas, (of which Kingswells is included) We are currently waiting for the Scottish Government to approve this proposal before we can proceed to procurement. Please inform your constituents that we are aware of the issues they face regarding broadband and we hope to address these issues through the City Region Deal.
