One approach is about the automated gathering and machine-assisted mining of big data. Foresight and future scenarios are
increasingly augmented by intelligence stemming from big-data mining
The other approach is about close observation of how people engage with products and solutions and how they feel about it
as consumers, patients or citizens. Deep innovation insights can come from empathic engagement and close observation
which allows the identification of underlying patterns. Design Thinking relies on this approach in combination with iterative
prototyping.
By using and eventually combining both approaches - the digital and the human-centric - companies maximize their chances for
innovations success
Day 1 is dedicated to intelligence and foresight where big data plays an increasing role
Day 2 is focused on human-centric innovation, deep insight and design thinking
Day 3 offers two parallel masterclasses on big-data driven intelligence and human-centric innovation
Machine assisted mining, aggregation and visualization of big data for strategic insight
Cognitive computing for business networks and innovation
Foresighting, scenario planning based on insights & Intelligence
Best intelligence practices in coupling intel with operations and strategy
Collective intelligence as a an approach to foresight the future
Democratized innovation open and distributed collaborations to push traditional boundaries
Human-centric innovation observation and empathy as the condition for deep insights
Deep insights defining innovation directions

How to get faster and more consistently from intelligence to strategic or operational pictures?
How to make foresight and scenario planning an integrated and continuously ongoing part
of strategy and innovation?
How to mine and to make sense of the enormous amounts of data available on web-based
resources?
How to gain deep insights into what customers, consumers, users, patients really
do with companies products and solutions -and what they really care about?
How to turn insights and new clarity into action - such as co-creating new prototypes,
value propositions, business models as well as new cooperations coalitions?
From a technical perspective we see fast progress in the machine-driven data mining, information
aggregation and visualization. Also, the capabilities for cognitive computing and artificial
intelligence are increasing. Likewise we witness that more and more companies recognize
human-centric and customer-centric innovation as crucial because it allows them to understand
what people really want.
One could argue that working with big and unstructured is a hard technological skill while
human-centric innovation is a soft anthropological skill. However, both approaches are even
stronger when combined. Also, both approaches need sense-making as a critical skill to turn data
and observation into insights - and furthermore, organisations need to master how to get from
insights to action on a strategic and/or operational level, continuously and consistently.
Conclusively, insight & intelligence cannot stand isolated but need to be integrated into leadership
practices which embraces a volatile presence and an uncertain future.
I welcome you to this first summit on insights and intelligence and look forward to be inspired
and network with you!
See you in Amsterdam,
