Whats Happening in Title?


Kindergarten - We have been working to make sure that we have all of our letter names and
sounds. We are beginning to tap (sound) out consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. We
continue to work on each weeks kindergarten sight words. Please continue to work with
your child over the break . This can be as simple as asking what sound they hear at the beginning or end of a word or using letter flashcards in a CVC pattern and having your child sound
out the words (they can be nonsense words also).
First Grade - We have been working on the first grade sight words. We have also been working on word attack and decoding skills for when students come across a word they do not
know. You can continue to work with your child over break by having them practice their
sight words.
Second Grade - We have been working on building our reading fluency and comprehension
skills. You can continue to work with your child over break by reading with them and asking
questions about what they have read.
Third Grade - We have been working on building our reading fluency and comprehension
skills. You can continue to work with your child over break by reading with them and asking
questions about what they have read.

Raz-Kids
We have began using Raz-Kids to give students another choice for reading. You will find a
letter attached that explains how your child can access Raz-Kids at home. This would be a
great option to keep them reading at home during the break.
