    A bicyclist, John Doe, age 35, was killed in a traffic accident at 5:11am on January 6, 2017 at the intersection of Morse Rd. and Colerain Ave. Mr. Doe crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a vehicle driven by Charles Sanders, age 48. As Mr. Doe lay in the road, he was then struck by a second vehicle driven by Sarah Staats, age 69. Columbus Fire declared Mr. Doe dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation and is the city's first traffic fatality of the year.

    Incident Summary:
    On 1-6-2017 at 5:11am, John Doe was operating a bicycle and was traveling eastbound in the
    eastbound Morse Rd. lanes. Mr. Doe crossed over into the westbound lanes, into the
    oncoming path of a vehicle driven by Charles Sanders. As a result of the collision Mr. Doe
    struck the windshield and was knocked to the ground. As Mr. Doe lay on the roadway he was
    struck by another vehicle driven by Sarah Staats. Columbus Fire Medic #24 arrived and
    pronounced Mr. Doe dead at 5:20am.
    Next of kin notification is pending.
    This is the Citys 1st traffic related this year.
    This is an on-going investigation.
