Abstract

Total quality management (TQM) is an extensively applied system for increasing


organizational performance around the globe. The literature review explores areas
of research in this domain of quality operations management, mainly in the area of
empirical examining of TQM implementation with effectiveness. The purpose of this
study was to examine the total quality management practices and operational
performance of manufacturing companies existing in Karachi in order to establish
the relationships among these practices, and firm performance. We used sample of
120 executives and managers of manufacturing organizations of Karachi. The Factor
analysis, reliability test, regression analysis were conducted for evaluating the
practice and performance measures. Our study reveals that the relationship
between TQM practice (i.e. leadership, customer focus and strategic planning) and
organizational performance is significant. All of the categories of TQM practice were
particularly strong predictors of organizational performance. Finding indicates that
organizational performance has moderately high correlation with TQM practices
along with significant impact
