General: 1. One student per language and level (ES K-5 and 1 and above) will participate for each school. 2. Runners up may be required to attend in the event that the winner is unable to participate. 3. Grades K-5: Poems or tongue twisters do not have a minimum word length. Level 1: Poems should be a minimum of 8 lines or 25 words in length and must be memorized. Levels 2-Advanced Poems should be a minimum of 14 lines or 50 words in length and must be memorized. 4. For in school competitions, teachers may choose to award grades to students for poetry recitation. If so, teachers should be using a Languages Out Loud rubric based on pronunciation, memorization, expression, and dramatic elements and should be appropriate to the students level. 5. Panel members will be providing motivational feedback to all participants. 6. Panel members will be college professors, district world languages supervisors, other district representatives, and community members. 7. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
