August 16 Gospel: Luke 1:39-56
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted
Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Marys greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried
out in a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to
me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in
my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.
August 15 Gospel Reading: Matthew 19:16-22
A young man approached him and asked, "Master, what good work must I do to receive eternal life?" Jesus answered, "Why do
you ask me about what is good?" Only one is Good. If you want to enter eternal life, keep the commandments." The young man
said, "Which commandments?" Jesus replied, "Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor
your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself."
Gospel Reading: Matthew 15:21-28
At that time, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. Now a Canaanite woman came from those borders and began to cry
out, "Lord, Son of David, have pity on me! My daughter is tormented by a demon." But Jesus did not answer her, not even a
word. So his disciples approached him and said, "Send her away: see how she is shouting after us."
