Appointed as
president of the
Latter-Day Saints.

Dear President Fillmore,

I have received notification of my appointment to office with the title of Utahs
governor. I would like to thank you for this opportunity given to me and I will not
disappoint. I plan on improving life and society out here in the west. By doing
the following things I believe I will bring great success to the Utah territory. I
hope that one day this territory will be in consideration as a state. Once more, I
would like to thank you with all of my heart for the opportunity given.
Sincerely,
Brigham Young
