ABSTRACT

Underwater Wireless Communications is a flourishing research area in the field of

Wireless communications. The signals that are used to carry digital information through
an underwater channel are not radio signals as electromagnetic techniques underwater has
largely been overlooked because of the attenuation due to the conductivity of sea water
and low bandwidth . Besides short distance propagation, we may also face problems like
absorption, reflection and scattering. So to overcome these drawbacks ultrasonic wave
propagation can be utilized for large distance communication which ranges from 20khz
to several gigahertz.
In our approach we consider the main objective of utilizing ultrasonic medium is to
provide high speed and efficient information transmission underwater.
Applications till date are like oceanographic data collection, AUVs and ROVs. Future
Challenges are like effective transmission of video and audio signals by real time
monitoring with a view to overcome present limitations
