Advertising needs to be regulated to avoid harmful content being viewed by the public and
people who are under the age to view harmful subjects that could affect their mental state. This
is also to make sure that any influential content isn't aired that could influence people to join
terrorist or extremist groups. The regulations are in place so that content that is designed for
older audiences isn't viewed by people who are too young to understand it or would be harmful
if they viewed it at the age that they are.
Ofcom is the UK's communications regulator. They regulate everything on the airwaves so no
unknown people can broadcast over it, unless given permission from Ofcom themselves. Ofcom
helps to prevent people from being scammed by false advertisements ,they also help to prevent
loan sharks from advertising on the air. Ofcom operates under the Acts of Parliament
((Communication Act 2003)),Ofcom must act within the powers that the Acts of Parliament have
laid down for them.
