Im With Individualism
I want you to imagine a society where a doctor and a custodian receive the
same amount of benefits because the whole society only cares about the
betterment of their group. At first this seems good but slowly the world starts to get
worse because people no longer are about how well rounded they are, in turn not
letting future generations reach their full potential. The truth is that collectivism will
ultimately hurt the human race, Individualism has been successful throughout
civilization for centuries. The idea of being rewarded for your own work emerged at
the beginning of the Renaissance period. Individualism is an absolute necessity, that
is if being the best you can be is expected. Imagine the scenario previously spoken
of, as time goes on the negative effects of collectivism slowly start to emerge and
the potential of every individual is never reached. If we could achieve a true
Individualist society then not only would people focus on the betterment of
themselves but still would give time and money to the groups needing it.

Individualism usually makes children want to be the very best, like no one
ever was. Not only is it used everyday but its is simple common sense. It is common
for a parent to use a chore, reward system. For instance a mom might say to her
son Timmy that if he makes his bed he can play some Mario Brothers. However a

more collectivist example would be if a Mother told her son Timmy that if he cleans
the whole house then the whole family can play Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This
situation makes absolutely sense, why should everyone be rewarded for Timmy's
hard work. Another example comes the from the fantastic world of Pokmon.
According to bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net Ash is an only chilies that lived with his
mother, Delia, until he left for his Pokmon journey at the age of 10(Ash). Ash works
as hard as he can and breaks through many struggles to eventually become one of
the greatest Pokmon trainers in the world. Would it make sense for the whole town
to be rewarded for Ashs triumph or should just him and his friends be rewarded. It
is plain common sense that Ash should just be rewarded. Assuming that it is just
Ash who is rewarded, this story would promote future generations to try their best.

If people were to focus more on the group how can society honestly expect them to
reach their full potential. Taylorswift.com is a website devoted to promoting the
young singer and it includes an about page telling her story. Taylor Swift grew up on
christmas tree farm in Reading, Pennsylvania(Blogs). Now back to modern Taylor
Swift. According to www.grammy.com, Taylor has gotten several awards including
some big ones like Album of The Year and Best Music Video(Taylor). Now in a
collectivist society Taylor would have been encouraged to stay on the farm and help
her family rather than pursue her career. Taylor now changes little girls and boys
lives when she sings things like shake it off. All of these happy songs and earned
awards were possible because of her individual choice. Some collectivists believe
that if the rest of society was not collectivist then people would no longer help one
another out. It is apparent however that Taylor now can lift the spirit of a young
child just when they hear a song as joyful as Shake It Off.

A lot of people believe that in an individualist society not enough attention would be
given to charity and needy groups.A lot of people believe that in an individualist
society not enough attention would be given to charity and needy groups. According
to www.nobelprize.org the 2016 prize was awarded to Juan Santos for his efforts to
bring the countrys more than 50 year long civil war to an end. This is a great
example of how an individual worked hard on their own and it payed off.

Now in conclusion it is still believe that if we could achieve a true Individualist

society then not only would people focus on the betterment of themselves but still
would give time and money to the groups needing it. If we cam ban together to
form a real individualist society are future generations will be better off. I and truly
am with individualism and I hope you will be too.
