Domestic Violence: Against Women

Yo! Yo! Yo!!! Its your boy JB (A.K.A. the Juice Lord) & you are now listening to Jay in
the Mornin. Im your host, JB and I am here today to talk about a topic that goes on in lives that
honestly shouldnt. Something I dont think we cover enough. Im here to talk about domestic
violence against women.

Women are constantly abused by us men and we cant figure out the exact reason why
this is happening so often. Its unbelievable and crazy to me that we can just mistreat women this
way. Women are one of, if not, the most precious and delicate part of this world. If there were not
any women on earth tell me how we would be born? We wouldnt be. Men cant reproduce with
one another. Its physically impossible. So I ask to you, why do we treat women like this?

Abuse isnt normal at all and it needs to be stopped. Lets really sit here and think about
this. Do us men, really have a reason to mistreat women, call them disrespectful names, and just
act like we dont care about them? I dont believe so at all. I believe in treating another women
just how you would treat your mother. My mom may make me mad but Id never hurt her or call
her anything disrespectful. She pays the bills alongside my father who taught me how to be
respectful to women. If I try to give my mom the best why wouldnt I give another women the
best? Ladies, Im going to give you some helpful information when youre in an abusive
relationship.

Dont attempt to stay and hope for change. If you ladies havent noticed, people in
general dont change. Dont try to change his ways because hes bound to do it again. You need
to call someone and have him or her help you get out of that situation. These are some examples
of disrespect and domestic violence to a woman.

Your partner apologizes and says the hurtful behavior won't happen again but you fear
it will (Mayo Clinic Staff). In Sweat, Sykes is disrespectful to Delia. Heres a prime example of
the disrespect: His wife gave a little scream of dismay, and quickly gathered them together
again (Hurston 1). He came home and kicked the clothes around. I believe this was done out of
jealousy. He may feel like shes the man of the house. Another example of this disrespect
comes out of the same story. Sykes says, Ah'm so tired of you Ah don't know whut to do
(Hurston 1). Instead of hurting her, why didnt he leave? He was already cheating on her. There
was no point in staying.

Some women are strong and fight back against the situation they are in. In Incidents in
the Life of a Slave Girl, Linda is a slave but she has children she needs to take care of. She was a
rare slave. A slave that was educated. She knew about the violence and she tried to get her kids
away from slavery. She was able to fight her way out because she overheard a conversation that
went along the lines of, We all concluded by saying, "He that is willing to be a slave, let him be
a slave (Jacobs 4.46). Women shouldnt have to fight though. We shouldnt treat them the way
we should. Ladies deserve the most amount of respect because without them we wouldnt be

here. Famous Dex, rapper, beat his girlfriend in an elevator for cheating on him. Was she wrong?
Yes. Did she deserve the beating? No.

I advise all women to take notice of when its happening immediately. The first time it
happens, contact someone or if you dont feel like telling on him, just simply leave. Dont allow
men to just beat down on you guys. You deserve the best.
