Gaming, its all about pasion

What is an eSport? It has the same concepts as a normal sport, but it is held in front
of a monitor, with a mouse or a joystick and competing in a videogame, at a
professional level. Simply, its a video game competition. This can be anything from
a neighborhood tournament to big stages with thousands of seats, watched live by
millions of people around the world.
The major growth of eSports began in 2010, in both viewership and prize money,
but generally since the internet became popular. For example in 2000 were held
about 10 tournaments and in 2010 about 260 and the numbers are still growing.
Not every video game can be considered an eSport. The vast majority of eSports
titles are fighting games (Street Fighter), first person shooters (Counter-Strike, Call
of Duty), real time strategy (StarCraft II), or multiplayer online battle arena games,
also known as MOBA (DotA 2, League of Legends) and digital collectible card games
(Hearthstone). Because of the drastic differences between video game genres,
professional players often spend their entire career in a single genre. For examples,
some games like DotA and StarCraft were created with the concept of having
competitions, even before eSports becoming so popular.
Youre probably wondering, Why is the word sports part of eSports?.True, its
easier to say eSports than electronic multi-player video game competition, but
seriously now, for some people is hard to concept the fact that video games are
actually a sport. Of course, No one would argue that the best eSports players in the
world are somehow comparable in physical condition to people like Leo Messi or
LeBron James, but at the same time no one that knows at least something about
eSports would argue that the top competitors are incredibly skilled, talented
individuals and as a team, mentally prepared to handle the emotions and the
struggle of being under pressure and watched by fans while playing at a major
tournament. These competitors have to work harder than anyone else infrom the
respective genre of games to reach that level and to maintain it. Thats why most of
the players started playing at an early age. For the right fans, watching a match in
the semifinals of a Counter Strike competition is like watching the match between
Real Madrid and Barcelona for soccer fans.

For example, there are high soccer teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea. Most
of the teams in eSports are playing under an organization which hired them as a
team, for example Natus Vincere[DotA 2, CSGO], Virtus Pro[DotA 2, CSGO],
Fnatic[CSGO, LOL], EnVyUs [CSGO, COD]. Pretty much all of the players have
salaries and earnings, higher or lower. The richest players are the DotA 2 players.
Peter ppd Dager and Saahil UNiVeRsE Arora [both players playing for Evil
Geniuses, the winners of the competition] have overall earnings of over 2 millions
dollars and also the largest prize pool in eSports was at The International 2015, a
DotA 2 competition in which participated 16 teams and 80 players and took place
between 7th July to 8th August 2015 and donations from items bought in-game by
players went straight to the prize pool, which was over 18 millions of dollars. The
second biggest prize pool was at The International 2014, over 10 millions dollars.

The eSport scene in Romania is not so great. We do have competitions which are
taking place in Romania, but unfortunately we dont have players and team to
participate at these competitions. Probably because these kind of sports is not
sustained by important organisations and sponsors. We do have 2 CSGO teams
[NextPlease and XPCGaming] but these teams are at a low level in the professional
team and are not taking part of many nor big tournaments. In DotA 2 , Pitter
bOne7 Armans was playing for Cloud9 at The International 2015, but the team fall
apart and Aliwi "w33" Omar is playing for Team Secret. and in League of Legends scene, the
only romainian player is Andrei Odoamne Pascu for H2k-Gaming.
