Six Sigma implementation in WIPRO

technologies.

Six Sigma:
Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects
(driving toward six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in
any process from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.

Objectives of Six Sigma:

To Study Overall Business Improvement
To study Remedy Defects/Variability
To Reduce Costs
To improve Cycle Time
To Increase Customer Satisfaction

Need of Project:
To study the Six Sigma implementation in the organization. What are
the reasons due to which there is need to implement the six sigma technique
in the wipro technologies. What are the benefits the organization will get
after implementing the six sigma.

Scope of six sigma in Wipro Technologies:

Six Sigma may appear similar to other quality management tools such as TQM or Kaizen
Events, but in reality, it is quite different. Other quality management programs often reach a
stage after which no further quality improvements can be made. Six Sigma, on the other
hand, is different as it focuses on taking quality improvement processes to the next level.
This means that Six Sigma has the potential to outlast other quality management programs
in the future.

Research questions:
Has six sigma approach helped the organization in meeting its needs?
What are the hidden cost involved in implementing six sigma?
Is six sigma a effective technique to improve cycle time of the organization?

Tentative research methodologies:

DMAIC - DMAIC is used for projects aimed at improving an existing business
process. It has 5 phases: define, measure, analyse, measure, control.
DMADV - It is used for projects aimed at creating new product or process
design. It has 5 phases: define, measure, analyse, design, verify.
