Reading

Kindy NEWS 6

-We learned the letter sounds /o/, and /

g/.
-Each child got their own book boxes!
-We started reading nursery rhymes
independently (Hickory Dickory Dock,
Humpty Dumpty, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and
Hey Diddle Diddle).
-We practiced pointing to each word as
we read.
-We continued practicing rhyming and
played several rhyming games.
-We continued practicing buddy reading
and what it looks like to read with a
partner.
-We learned a cool trick to tell the
difference between b and d
Writing
-Each child received their own
Writing Folder
-We discussed how writers make a
mental picture of their writing
before they start.
-We practicing labeling our
drawings
-We talked about
STRETCHING out the
words.
-We gathered as a club of
writers to share our work.
Playing a fun dice
game to practice
recognizing numbers.

Math

-We continued to build our number fluency

with lighting round flashcards.
-We discussed how to represent numbers in
different ways, and worked with partners
to build numbers creatively!
-We played 3 different dice games to
practice recognizing, identifying, and
representing numbers 1-10.
-We practiced explaining our thinking
during a math discussion and shared our
ideas using the document camera.
Other News
-We began using a question of the day as our
attendance in the morning.
-We celebrated Chases birthday!
-We worked on a special bucket filling
project.
-We started using CHAMPS for each of our
activities.
-We visited the book fair!
-We began using a new iPad app, Starfall
Starfall is great for enrichment and extra
practice with letter
sounds, sight words, and
numeral recognition.
