Kindy NEWS 7

-We began our favorite storybooks

unit in Reading Workshop
-We learned that readers can retell a
story by looking at the pictures and
words.
-We practiced pointing to each word as
we read familiar nursery rhymes
-We learned 4 sight words! Red, Blue,
Black, and White
-We learned the letter sounds /u/ and /
l/
-We played a beginning sound matching
game during centers
-We learned about SYLLABLES, we
counted syllables in our names and played
a syllable counting game with unifix cubes.
-We read Pete the Cat I Love My White
Shoes

Math

-We started a new calendar with VERY

interesting calendar pieces. We made
predictions about what the pattern will
look like next.
-We learned about tally marks and making
groups of 5.
-We played What comes next to
practice number sequencing.
-We continued recognizing numbers in
different ways (ten frames, numerals,
dots, number words)

Writing
-We are continuing to practice stretching
out words, labeling our illustrations, and
creating a mental picture before writing.
-We wrote about things in the classroom
that are blue, black, and white.
-We read Elephant and Piggie Can I Play
Too? and looked at how Mo Willems
shows motion in his illustrations.
We played a back to back
math game with our Ketchup
and Mustard partners!

Other News
-We celebrated Lilys Birthday!
-We had a great time dressing in
Colors for our Color Days!
-We started a new Class Dojo series
about Empathy.
-Congrats to Brady and Riley for
being our PAWS winners this week!
-We started a new Flat Stanley book
that takes place in Egypt
