Reading

KindY NEWS 12
Math

-We continued using our reading


superpowers and practiced pointing to each
word as we read.
-We learned about snap wordswords we can
read instantly, like sight words, and
kryptonite wordswords that try to slow us
down, but we persevere through and keep
reading!
-We read several books about family and
talked about how each family is special in
unique ways.
-We read about Thanksgiving and discussed
different family traditions during
Thanksgiving.
-We learned the sight words see and one
-In phonics, we learned the vowel pair sounds
oa and ie and reviewed other letter
sounds learned this year.
-We worked with our reading buddies to use
partner power and help our partners use
their super powers to read.
-In centers, we played a word-building game
to spell CVC words like map, bed, and
van.

Writing

-We wrote about what we see, feel, and


eat on Thanksgiving.
-We wrote about what we are thankful
for and learned how to use the word
because to add detail to our writing!
-We practiced using Spaceman to help
put spaces between our words.
-We reviewed the role of punctuation
and where a period goes in a sentence.

-We continued learning about 3D shapes.We


have a pattern of shapes on our calendar and
practiced naming a describing them.
-We sorted real examples of 3D shapes based on
whether or not you could put things inside of
them (i.e a garbage can vs. a Rubiks cube).
-We played several math games to practice
drawing 3D shapes, recognizing numbers on a ten
frame, recognizing numerals 1-20, and adding up
numbers on two dice.
-We continued our work with more/less and using
the greater than symbol accurately.
-We made number turkeys to show how we can
represent numbers in different ways.
-We love our count to 120 song! Here is the

Other News
-Thank you to Mrs. Niday (Carolines mom) for
reading Iggy Peck, Architect for our guest
reading!
-We had another visit from Fireman Mike who
taught us about Stop, drop, and roll! and the
importance of smoke alarms!
-Congrats to Nolan and Viano for being our
PAWS winners this week!

turkeys!
