PERFORMANCE
This chart shows that the Cola®Liquid Amides promote better retention of foam height versus
cocamide DEA and the competitive product. The decline in initial foam height for the
Cola®Liquid Amides is significantly less than the other two compounds. All of the Cola®Liquid
Amides provide viscosity enhancement and reduction in salt levels used to achieve viscosity.

This chart evaluates the performance of the Cola®Liquid Amides versus cocamide DEA and a
competitive amide in a typical shampoo-type formulation. Additionally, this chart
demonstrates that the Cola®Liquid Amides will increase the overall level of foam versus
cocamide DEA. The recommended use levels for the Cola®Liquid Amides are typical of those for
traditional alkanolamides, generally in the range of 2% to 5% in personal care products or 10%
to 20% of the total anioinc content of the formulation. Long chain length Cola®Liquids can be
used at lower levels.

TOXICOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Cola®Liquid was evaluated for eye and skin irritation potential and the product was found to be very mild
versus traditional alkanolamides. Eye irritation was determined by a HET-CAM assay that uses the inner
membrane of a hen’s egg and gauges the injurious changes to this membrane when exposed to the test
substance. Cola®Liquid DC was found to have a score of 2 in this test. By comparison, a typical baby
shampoo has a score of 11. Therefore, Cola®Liquid DC is virtually non-irritating on eye exposure.

Skin irritation was performed on 52 test subjects who wore a patch containing 1% Cola®Liquid DC for 72
hours. Visual observation of the skin after that time revealed no changes in skin condition indicating the
negative potential for skin irritation by Cola®Liquid DC.
