Overview of Company

Sparklab Engineering System Pvt. Ltd. is a based on education and training

industry. It provides students from various engineering and science stream
background to understand the practical knowledge of the theory that they learn in
colleges.
In India education industry is very large and vast as the young population of India
more than 50% in fewer than 25 of age that are school and college students and
young Indians.
India Ratings expects the Indian education sectors market size to increase to Rs
602,410 crore ($109.84 billion) by FY15 due to the expected strong demand for
quality education. Indian education sectors market size in FY12 is estimated to be
Rs 341,180 crore.
The Indian education sector is one of the largest sunrise sectors contributing to the
countrys economic and social growth. The Indian education system, considered as
one of the largest in the world, is divided into two major segments of core and noncore businesses. While, schools and higher education for the core group, the noncore business consists of pre-schools, vocational training and coaching classes. The
education sector in India is evolving, led by the emergence of new niche sectors
like workshops on selected topics, vocational training, finishing schools, child-skill
enhancement and e-learning. India has emerged as a strong potential market for
2

investments in training and education sector, due to its favorable demographics

(young population) and being a services-driven economy.

Similarly the workshop and training in schools and colleges has increased as the
quality of education and the use of technology has increased and demand for more
practical knowledge than the core theory knowledge has been increasing.
The companies are working for education industries like providing training,
internship and workshops on the subjects that the institute or college providing to
the students.
For example CBSE Schools in India has introduced the Python (programming
Language) instead of C++ in their syllabus.
There are few institutes that provide training for Python in Delhi/NCR so
companies like Sparklab provides coaching and training to the students and also
to the faculties of the colleges.

Language and Python is also used by NASA. Its high-level built in data structures,
combined with dynamic typing and dynamic binding, make it very attractive for
Rapid Application Development, as well as for use as a scripting or glue language
to connect existing components together. Python's simple, easy to learn syntax
emphasizes readability and therefore reduces the cost of program maintenance.
Python supports modules and packages, which encourages program modularity
and code reuse. The Python interpreter and the extensive standard library are
available in source or binary form without charge for all major platforms, and can
be freely distributed.

11

VLSI DESIGN

Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the process of creating an integrated

circuit (IC) by combining thousands of transistors into a single chip. VLSI began
in the 1970s when complex semiconductor and communication technologies were
being developed. The microprocessor is a VLSI device. Before the introduction of
VLSI technology most ICs had a limited set of functions they could perform.
An electronic circuit might consist of a CPU, ROM, RAM and other glue logic.
VLSI lets IC makers add all of these into one chip.
Digital VLSI Design Workshop is also provided to the students by the company.

SWOT Analysis of the Company

Weaknesses
Strengths SWOT
Analysi
s
Threats
Opportunities

A SWOT analysis is a strategic balance sheet of an organization; that is the

strengths of the organization, the weaknesses of the organization, the opportunities
facing the organization, and the threats facing the organization. It is one of the
cornerstone analytical tools to help an organization develop a preferred future. It is
one of the time tested tools that has the capacity to enable an organization to
understand itself. To respond effectively to changes in the environment, we must
understand our external and internal contexts so we can develop a vision and a
strategy that link the two. We need to weave together our understanding of our
organization and our actions to develop a future. The purpose of the SWOT
analysis is to provide information on our strengths and weaknesses in relation to
the opportunities and threats we face.

SWOT Analysis of Sparklab Engineering System Pvt. Ltd.:-

Strengths:22

Strengths, in the SWOT analysis, are a company's capabilities and resources that
allow it to engage in activities to generate economic value and perhaps competitive
advantage. A company's strengths may be in its ability to create unique products, to
provide high-level customer service, or to have a presence in multiple retail
markets. Strengths may also be things such as the company's culture, its staffing
and training, or the quality of its managers. Whatever capability a company has can
be regarded as strength.

Strength of Sparklab are their Engineers and the Marketing team that provides
them the clients.
The quality of workshops that it provides is best in the market.
The kits and tools provided for the workshops are of best quality and of low costs
made by the company any itself.

Weakness:A company's weaknesses are a lack of resources or capabilities that can prevent it
from generating economic value or gaining a competitive advantage if used
to enact the company's strategy. There are many examples of organizational
weaknesses. For example, a firm may have a large, bureaucratic structure that
limits its ability to compete with smaller, more dynamic companies. Another
weakness may occur if a company has higher labor costs than a competitor who
can have similar productivity from a lower labor cost. The characteristics of an
organization that can be strength, as listed above, can also be a weakness if the
company does not do them well.
Sparklab main weakness is lack of staff outside Delhi/NCR as there are no team in
other cities that can provides demo to schools and colleges.
23

The whole marketing team is in Delhi/NCR; from here only employees have to talk
to the clients by means of telephone and mail only. In this case if any company
provides demos at the schools and colleges then thy can attract the client before
Sparklab.

Opportunities:Opportunities provide the organization with a chance to improve its performance

and its competitive advantage. Some opportunities may be anticipated, others
arise unexpectedly. Opportunities may arise when there are niches for new
products or services, or when these products and services can be offered at
different times and in different locations. For instance, the increased use of the
Internet has provided numerous opportunities for companies to expand their
product sales.
For Sparklab the opportunities are school students who are showing great interest
in such kind of workshops and other companies are not approaching them.
Sparklab makes the tools and the kits for the workshop so it is providing
employment for engineering students for its R&D department.
As schools and colleges are field where inflation recession does happens as
education is the main key to succeed therefore the opportunities will there every
time.

Threats:Threats can be an individual, group, or organization outside the company that

aims to reduce the level of the company's performance. Every company faces
threats in its environment. Often the more successful companies have stronger
24

threats, because there is a desire on the part of other companies to take some of
that success for their own. Threats may come from new products or services from
other companies that aim to take away a company's competitive advantage.
Threats may also come from government regulation or even consumer groups.

Threats for Sparklab are their competitors which are also in the same field of
organizing workshops on Robotics and providing Training for the students and
corporate employees. Workshop fees is also a threats because many companies are
providing workshop for very less price but not providing better workshops and
tools. While Sparklab provides good tools and kits for the schools and colleges
and at very economical fee.
To compete with them the company has to provide better service at economical
price and new topics of workshops.
Some of the competitors of Sparklab are as following:RoboSpecies

2.1

Objective of the study

Objective of Internship at Sparklab Engineering System Pvt. Ltd.

The objective of the summer internship is to get the first corporate exposure which
helps a student in understanding the corporate culture. However taking up the on
the job training with Sahara India Financial Corporation has been not only a
learning but also a cherishing experience. The On the Job Training (OJT) was
interesting as well as challenging in its own way. The following came under
purview of the OJT.
30

Know Local/Regional Area Marketing of Education Industry /Sector.

Calling all the Schools and introducing out company and the workshop.

Collecting appropriate client details.

Planning and organizing various workshops and seminars.

Understanding the concept of marketing and selling in the industry

To know the organization culture.

To learn how to convince the clients to organize workshop.

Maintain and develop a computerized customer and prospect database.

The objective of the study is to check if the workshops are beneficial for the
college students and if the workshop can help the student to understand the
theoretical knowledge and their practical use in real world.
This study will help in finding the gap between the Theoretical knowledge and
Practical approach of the subjects.

2.2 Methodology
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research is a common language refers to a search of knowledge. Research is
scientific & systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic, infact
research is an art of scientific investigation. Research Methodology is a scientific
way to solve research problem. It may be understood as a science of studying how
research is doing scientifically. In it we study various steps that are generally
adopted by researchers in studying their research problem. It is necessary for
31

researchers to know not only know research method techniques but also
technology.
The scope of Research Methodology is wider than that of research methods.
The research problem consists of series of closely related activities. At times, the
first step determines the native of the last step to be undertaken. Why a research
has been defined, what data has been collected and what a particular methods have
been adopted and a host of similar other questions are usually answered when we
talk of research methodology concerning a research problem or study. The project
is a study where focus is on the following points:

RESEARCH DESIGN
A research design is defined, as the specification of methods and procedures for
acquiring the Information needed. It is a plant or organizing framework for doing
the study and collecting the data. Designing a research plan requires decisions all
the data sources, research approaches, Research instruments, sampling plan and
contact methods.

Research design is mainly of following types: 1. Exploratory research.

2. Descriptive studies

EXPLORATORY RESEARCH

32

The major purposes of exploratory studies are the identification of problems, the
more precise Formulation of problems and the formulations of new alternative
courses of action. The design of exploratory studies is characterized by a great
amount of flexibility and ad-hoc veracity.

DESCRIPTIVE STUDIES
Descriptive research in contrast to exploratory research is marked by the prior
formulation of Specific Research Questions. The investigator already knows a
substantial amount about the research problem. Perhaps as a Result of an
exploratory study, before the project is initiated. Descriptive research is also
characterized by a Preplanned and structured design

2.3 Sources of Data

33

PRIMARY DATA
These data are collected first time as original data. The data is recorded as
observed or encountered. Essentially they are raw materials. They may be
combined, totaled but they have not extensively been statistically processed. For
example, data obtained by the peoples.

34

In the study the data used is primary data as the questionnaire was filled by the
schools and colleges where the workshop of Robotics and Python was organized.

SECONDARY DATA
Sources of Secondary Data
Following are the main sources of secondary data:
1. Official Publications: Publications of the working capital or by the corporate
Publications Relating to Trade: Publications of the trade associations, bulletin,
trade union etc.
2. Journal/ Newspapers etc.: Some newspapers/ Journals collect and publish their
own data
3. Unpublished Data: Data may be obtained from several companies,
organizations, working in the same areas.
For example, data on financial budget by magazines.
4. Data collected from previous year research and findings and from the internet.

Area of study:
The study is exclusively done in the area of marketing. It is a process requiring
care, sophistication, experience, business judgment, and imagination for which
there can be no mechanical substitutes. The study consists CBSE schools from all
over India as the Python programming language was started by CBSE from 2013
35

so to get aware about the subject Sparklab initiated the programme of organize the
workshop on Python all over India.

Sampling Design:
The convenience sampling is done because any probability sampling procedure
would require detailed information about the universe, which is not easily
available further, it being an exploratory research.
Sampling Size:
The sampling size of the study is 50 Engineering Colleges all over India.

Method of the Sampling:

Probability Sampling
It is also known as random sampling. Here, every item of the universe has an
equal chance or probability of being chosen for sample.
Simple Random Sampling
A simple random sample gives each member of the population an equal chance of
being chosen. It is not a haphazard sample as some people think! One way of
achieving a simple random sample is to number each element in the sampling
frame (e.g. give everyone on the Electoral register a number) and then use random
numbers to select the required sample.
Random numbers can be obtained using your calculator, a spreadsheet, printed
tables of random numbers, or by the more traditional methods of drawing slips of
paper from a hat, tossing coins or rolling dice.
36

Systematic Random Sampling

This is random sampling with a system! From the sampling frame, a starting
point is chosen at random, and thereafter at regular intervals.
Stratified Random Sampling
With stratified random sampling, the population is first divided into a number of
parts or 'strata' according to some characteristic, chosen to be related to the major
variables being studied. For this survey, the variable of interest is the citizen's
attitude to the redevelopment scheme, and the stratification factor will be the
values of the respondents' homes. This factor was chosen because it seems
reasonable to suppose that it will be related to people's attitudes
Cluster and Area Sampling
Cluster sampling is a sampling technique used when "natural" groupings are
evident in a statistical population. It is often used in marketing research. In this
technique, the total population is divided into these groups (or clusters) and a
sample of the groups is selected. Then the required information is collected from
the elements within each selected group. This may be done for every element in
these groups or a subsample of elements may be selected within each of these
groups.
Non Probability Sampling
It is also known as deliberate or purposive or judge mental sampling. In this type
of sampling, every item in the universe does not have an equal, chance of being
included in a sample.

It is of following type:
37

Convenience Sampling
A convenience sample chooses the individuals that are easiest to reach or
sampling that is done easy. Convenience sampling does not represent the entire
population so it is considered bias.
Quota Sampling
In quota sampling the selection of the sample is made by the interviewer, who has
been given quotas to fill from specified sub-groups of the population.
Tool of primary data collection used by the organization to get the feedback about
the workshop.
In the study the data was collected by telephonic interview, by mail and getting
the filled at the time of workshops in different colleges where the workshop was
going on.
Data was collected by getting the feedback after the workshop was finished
through calling by telephonic and through E-mail.

CHAPTER III

38

DATA ANALYSIS AND

INTERPRETATIONS

3.1 Analysis of the study

39

On the bases of the questionnaire filled by the various Engineering Colleges all
over India the analysis was done to find whether the project of organizing
workshop for the school students was useful or not. During the workshop the
students were asked to fill the questionnaire so that the gap between the
theoretical and practical knowledge can be analyzed and the use of workshop and
training for the students can be determined and help the students to know the
subjects well with workshops and competition on the subjects they study at school
so that they can think which field they can go for:-

CHAPTER IV
FINDING AND CONCLUSION

4.1 Conclusion
From the above analysis it is clear that the workshops play a very important role
in learning and understanding the topics easily and more accurately. Colleges now
days are using more and more workshops and training programs to enhance the
student skills and knowledge for the subjects and their practical usage in now a
day.
55

Many colleges uses workshop and training program to give student live demos
and the practical knowledge of the subjects with the academic curriculum.
The main idea is to build future leaders by providing them basic knowledge by
creating interest in relative field. Today there is a great demand of professionals in
the related areas wherein our vision is to provide quality education keeping in
minds the methodologies and interest between the students.
Workshops take learning beyond the confines of a classroom and make it an
enjoyable experience for the students. Workshops not only help give a hands-on
experience but also motivate and inspire the learners to be worthy human beings.
By providing the students the Robotics and Pythons programming language
workshops to the students they can go in the field of their choices likeThose students who have attended the Robotics and Python workshops can go for
making Big Engineering Projects in their future.
From the study we can say that colleges that are organizing workshop for their
students are enhancing their analytical skill, practical skills, subjects practical
knowledge and making them explore new opportunities in life while their
graduation.
Sparklab Engineering System Pvt. Ltd. in this way providing the colleges all over
India to organize these types of workshop and provides a platform to perform
better in the subjects by organizing championship related to the specific subjects.
Like Robotics and Python Championship Technosia that the company organizes
in association with various IITs during their Technical Fest.
Some of them are56

Techniche-2014 with IIT Guwahati.

Shaastra-2014 with IIT Madras
TECHNEX-2014 with IIT BHU
With the help of these IITs Sparklab provides a platform to the college students to
participate at the National Level Championship to interact with students from all
over India and helps them to choose the field they want to go after their school.

Chapter V
SUGGESTIONS

Suggestions
Sparklab Engineering System Pvt. Ltd. provides workshops and training programs
to the schools and engineering colleges to understand the basic and advanced
Robotics and Pythons and android application system. It organizes championships
on Robotics and Python for the students of class 9th to Engineering students to
compete at different levels and helps them to understand the subject practical
usage.
58

The Engineers at Sparklab are highly well qualified and have a good command on
both practical and theoretical knowledge of the Robotics and Python programmes.
Some of the suggestion from the study to the company is: The marketing team should be at every state they want deals with because
sometime when the employee from Delhi/NCR call a client based in
TAMIL NADU there other company can provide live demo and can
organize their workshop. Therefore there should be some marketing person
that can handle client outside Delhi.
The workshop duration should be more than 2 days as in 2 days one cannot
learn programming and subject.
The workshop content should be clear and should be given to every student
before the workshop.
More use to technology so that student can easily grab the topics.
The topics selected for the workshop should be easy and basic only not
advanced.
There should be use of audio and visual medium like projector screen etc.
Feedback form should be filled by every student so that next time the
workshop will be better and useful.
