SUBJECT : Biology
FORM

: Form 4 Jabir

VENUE

: Biology Lab 1

NO.OF STUDENT: 30/30

TOPIC

: Experiment of the Intraspecific and Interspecific competitions in

plants.

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVE: To study the intraspecific and interspecific

competitions in plants.
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE:
1. Student had already learnt about ecosystem.
2. Students have learned the different trophic levels in food chain and food
web.
NOBLE VALUES:
1. Student will showing interests and curiosity in the environment
2. Student are being cooperative
3. Student can appreciate the balance in nature.
1

TEACHING MEDIA:
Text book, marker pen, and white board.
MATERIAL AND APPARATUS:
Three seedling trays (2 m x 1 m each) with garden soil, a packet of maize seeds, a
packet of paddy seeds, Distilled water, Ruler, Oven, Compression balance, Spade
Waterproof pain, and Paintbrush.

PRECAUTION STEP:
1. Handle glass apparatus carefully.
2. Make sure no zero error before using the compression balance.
INDUCTION SET:
Teacher asks students the different between intraspecific and interspecific in plants.
Teacher discusses the answer with students. Then teacher relate the discussion with
todays experiment.

iii) What is next?

1. The seedling trays are

labeled A, B and C using
waterproof paint.
2. The seedling trays are
filled with equal amounts
of garden soil. The seeds
are planted as shown in
the diagram at 5 cm
intervals.
3. The seeds are watered
carefully with distilled
water each day.
4. After 30 days, 10 paddy
seedling are pulled out
randomly from tray A.
The roots of the seedling
are cleaned under running
water.
5. The Paddy seedling are
then heated and dried at
105C in an oven.
