T-Shirt Creation Reference

Guide for Photoshop Template

Last modified September 24 2015

Creation Reference | Place Your Design

After downloading the Photoshop template file,

T-shirt_template-Merch_by_AMZN.PSD (1), you
will be able to place your art into the document to
preview it with our available shirt colors and shirt
types (mens womens and kids).
When you open the template file, right-click on the
layer Front [Edit this smart object] or Back [Edit
this smart object] (2), and select Edit Contents (3)
from the menu. After you select this option, a new
tab will open within Photoshop.

Creation Reference | Replacing Sample Art

Within the new tab, you will see our sample artwork
(1) (provided to show how the design will layout
on your shirt). Start by deleting this layer, Sample
image [Delete or hide], and adding your artwork to
the layer titled Clean Layer (2).
To preview your design, save your progress on
the new tab then switch back to the first tab. The
sample artwork should now be updated to reflect
your art on the new tab.

Creation Reference | Preview Shirt Colors

Once your design is set on the shirt (1) (by editing

the smar object), you can preview the available
color options by opening the Shirt Colors folder
and toggling the visibility of the color layers (2).
Each layer contains a sample of the shirt color and
the related name (selectable on our website).

Creation Reference | Preview Shirt Types

In addition to the shirt colors, you can also preview
your design against three shirt types: men, women
and kids. To preview against these shirt types,
toggle the visibility of the shirt type layers (1) (e.g.,
Mens front).

Creation Reference | Save Out Your Design

After previewing your design on the Photoshop

template, go back to the new tab and save your
artwork out as a new PNG file (1). This will save
your artwork at 300 ppi and 15 x 18 (4500 px by
5400 px) dimension.
Note: Select Embed Color Profile option while
saving.
This will be the asset that you upload to
Merch by Amazon.
