Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:
This artifact is a math game that my fourth grade students played when learning about
fractions. They are required to use what they learned during our whole class factors
lesson in order to practice the concept of factors. Students roll two dice and multiply
numbers together to find products. They have to decide which numbers are factors of a
certain product and this helps develop their knowledge related to the content. This
game give students a chance to practice what they have learned, and is great for
different ability levels.
Reflection on the artifact:
This game worked really well in my classroom. I feel like it was a great way for students
to grow their skills and practice a key fourth grade concept. After learning about factors,
and multiples we move on to learning about fractions where they have to be able to find
factors and multiples in order to create equivalent fractions, and compare fractions. This
game offers a more difficult version where students put in their own products once they
are ready. This is a game that I will use in the future, and I may even use it again this
year in math workshops to review the idea of factors.
