Osmosis Using Potato


Materials:

3 pieces medium sized Potato


2 teaspoon Sodium Chloride (Salt)
2 Teaspoon sugar
Knife
Water

Procedure:
1. Get a medium Sized Potato and cut into halves.
2. Cut a small depression on the surface of each potato half scoop out some of
the potato meat to flatten the bottom.
3. Put teaspoon of salt into the depression in one potato half and another one
teaspoon of salt to the depression on another half.
4. Leave both potato half for one hour, look again at holes after one hour. Can
you see any fluid?
5. Repeat this activity and use sugar rather than salt.
6. Repeat activity and use water rather than sugar and salt.
