DEFINITIONS OF

CODES OF PRACTISE
Location Permission
When filming on most premises you will need to receive permission
from the correct people although some public places everyone is
allowed to film and it also depends on what the footage is being
used for. Failure to get the correct permission may mean the local
authorities for that area get involved and you could receive a fine
and penalty.

B ECTU
BECTU is the UKs media and entertainment union for all sectors
such as broadcasting, film, independent, production, theatre, arts,
IT, telecoms, live events, leisure and digital media. BECTU provide
many different services including legal services and low cost
insurance. They help all different types of media workers and help
providing services when needed.

BBFC
British Board of Film Classification is a non government body
independently started which has decided the age ratings of cinema
films since 1912 when it was started and videos and DVDs have
been classified by the BBFC since the video recordings act was
passed in 1984.

MCPS
The mechanical copyright protection society represents over 17,000
composers songwriters and music publishers. The main role of the
MCPS is to collect money from song users such as TV and radio
programs they basically collect any royalties and they offer licenses.

PRS
PRS is exactly like the MCPS that also represent the rights of many
artist and such. They license organisations to perform or make
available copyright music on behalf of their members and then
distributes the royalties fairly.
