Susan B. Anthony was a womens rights activists and believed that women should
have the same right to vote as much as men did. She and many other women
wanted this as well. On Feb. 15, 1820 Susan B. Anthony was born into a Quaker
family committed to social equality. In 1851 she met a woman named Elizabeth
Cady Stanton and they soon became lifelong friends, fighting for womens rights.
From there she petitioned and gave speeches about gender inequalities, and other
social inequalities. Along the way, she gained new recruits and even encouraged a
constitutional amendment. Sadly, Susan died due to heart failure on March 19,
1906. Her last words were failure is impossible. And indeed, it is because 14
years later, women got the right to vote.
