From the Desk of Mayor Wright
Greetings Everyone,

Happy Holidays & New Year from the City of Dunwoody. It is amazing to
think these 3 simple words, “City of Dunwoody” are a result of hundreds of
thousands of collective volunteer hours offered up by dedicated residents and
local business owners. These Dunwoody stakeholders knew the community of
Dunwoody should incorporate to afford residents local control and local
decisions. As 2009 has reached an end, it was quite a whirlwind of a year. The
City of Dunwoody was officially ‘birthed” and began the delivery of services on
January 1, 2009 through an innovative set of partnerships with three private sec-
tor firms who provide the City of Dunwoody with Community Development,
Public Works and Finance and Administration services. All of our critical staff
was in place by December 1, 2008.

The highlight of FY 2009 was the deployment of the Dunwoody Police Department (DPD). Led by Chief Billy
Grogan, the DPD officially went into service answering calls on April 1, 2009. In 90 days time, Chief Grogan hired,
equipped and prepared 40 sworn officers and 8 civilians to protect and serve the citizens, businesses, and visitors of
Dunwoody. The DPD is a “best in class” police department with strong leadership and the finest law enforcement
officers in the State of Georgia. The DPD, in 8 months of service, has produced a dramatic and much appreciated
impact on public safety in Dunwoody.

As we look back on 2009, prepair for the new year and new decade, I would like to invite our citizens to the inagu-
ral State of the City Address on January 28th, 5:00 p.m., at the local 1420 Room. From the build out and opening
of Dunwoody’s city hall to deliberating hand in hand with our area businesses and citizens on various impact items
, the City of Dunwoody staff and council are actively and proudly serving the residents, businesses, and visitors of
Metro Atlanta’s greatest city, The City of Dunwoody.

Cheers,

Mayor Ken Wright

2010 Business Licenses

Are you a business owner in the City of Dunwoody? You need to know renewal notices for the occupation taxes
(business licenses) will be sent out the early part of this month. These notices must be returned by February 1st. The
Request for Information Form enables us to compare estimates with actual figures, and results in the generation of
the Occupational Tax Billing Statement. If you do not receive a renewal notice by the third week of January, please
contact the Business Licensing Department. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve the business ownership
of responsibility to renew the business registration. The Business License Department can be contacted at at 678-382-
