Message from the Dean

Greetings!
The Indian School of Business (ISB),
evolved from a need for a distinctive
business school in this region dedicated to
providing the best management education.
The School is the dream of some of
the best minds from the corporate and
academic world. Their aspiration was to
establish an internationally recognised,
research-driven, independent management
institution that groomed future leaders for
India and the world.
The composition of its leadership and
partners includes business leaders,
entrepreneurs and academicians, and
marquee institutions of higher learning
like the Kellogg School of Management,
The Wharton School, London Business
School, MIT Sloan School of Management,
and the Fletcher School of Law and
Diplomacy at the Tufts University.
Our location in India and the Asian
region provides the setting for a thoughtprovoking interplay of management
thinking and practices from the West and

the East, impact on business strategy and

policy through collaborations, and multidisciplinary perspectives in our academic
and executive programmes. As a result
we offer unique perspectives through our
curriculum.
Our faculty are thought leaders in their
respective fields and have distinguished
themselves as researchers, management
theorists, policy makers, and consultants.
This, combined with the impressive
infrastructure and serene landscapes,
provides a great learning and research
environment. Students at the ISB enjoy
world-class academic, residential, and
recreational facilities.
This is an invitation to you to come and
experience the ISB story and to be a part
of it.

Practicum Courses
Apart from regular classroom learning,
the curriculum integrates a large amount
of applied learning in the form of
Practicum Courses. Therefore, you start
applying what you are taught, even as
you learn. The Post Graduate Programme
is supported by the following learning
interventions:
Leadership Development (LEAD)
At ISB, every incoming student goes
through a workshop on Leadership
Development (called LEAD) during the
initial orientation week. They work in
their study groups with feedback based
on their psychological profiles and 360degree assessment. They are put through
experiential exercises and day-long
simulations to gain an understanding of
how they function in groups. In order
to complete the course, the students are
expected to develop their own personal
plan in order to become a better leader.
During the year, workshops are organised
on specific themes that include skills

gives you the resources to make those dreams
come true.

of presentation, conflict management,

collaboration, influence, working in teams
and so on.
Several ISB students make phenomenal
contributions to the running of the
institution, whether it is the admission
process, running of the curriculum,
co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities, placements, alumni events,
clubs, leadership conferences, B-school
competitions, student life, and so on.
Through this voluntary giving, the
students also receive something valuable
in return. They get an opportunity to
practice leadership. This provides them

important lessons on the art of making

things happen.
In addition, we have advanced leadership
courses on themes such as team
building, change management, managing
complexity and negotiations.
Experiential Learning
Programme (ELP)
The ELP allows you to work on real
world business issues through live projects
offered by companies and organisations.
It enables you to apply your learning
outside the classroom setting and gain
new perspectives on business.

Learn from the Rich Experience

Around You
The learning that you gain from peer
interactions is as important as what you
gain in the classroom. Having a diverse
peer group on campus exposes you to
different cultures, ideas, and perspectives.
ISBs admissions process is designed
to build a student body composed of
professionals from different backgrounds
in terms of educational qualification, work
experience, industry exposure, functional
expertise, and other such traits.

Study Groups
During the course of the programme,
students are expected to work on
several group assignments and projects.
While some groups are self-selected,
many are assigned by the School or faculty.
This is done to ensure that each study
group has a mix of students from diverse
backgrounds and opinions which push
the boundaries of your thinking and force
you to enhance your collaborative skills.
