Developmental Goals
Small Motor Skills; They will
use the small muscles in their
hands and feet to put the
finishing touches on their lady
bug.
Intellectual; They will learn
the parts of the lady bug.
Social/Emotional; The
children will have to take
turns with their friends to get
their feet painted.

Learning Objectives
Given an outline of their red
foot, the children will create a
lady bug.

Motivation/Introduction:
Come with me, we are going to make a lady bug!

Materials Required
-white construction paper
-red paint
-black paint
-red puffy paint
-black puffy paint
-googly eyes
-one large paint brush
-tub of soapy water
-towel
-two small paper plates
-glue

Procedure:
1) The child will write their name on the back of the piece of white construction paper.
2) I will then paint their foot red and place it on the paper. This will create the body of the lady
bug.
3) I will put their foot in a tub of soapy water and wash the paint off of their foot. I will then dry
their foot.
4) I will do this until all of the kids have a turn to get their foot painted.
5) Give the papers a day to dry before starting the next steps.
6) The children will then start to make their foot look like a lady bug.
7) They will put two dots of glue where their eyes go and attatch the googly eyes. (On the heel)
8) They will then use the red puffy paint to make a smile on their lady bug.
9) They will then use the black puffy paint to create two antennas on top of their heal. (top of
lady bug's head)
10) The black puffy paint will be used to create six legs, three legs on each side of their foot.
11) I will then put some black paint on a small paper plate.
12) They will dip their thumb into the paint to make six black dots on the lady bugs body.
13) I will put their project on the drying rack to be sent home the next day.
