Assignment Two
Surveying is the technique and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or threedimensional space position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points
are usually, but not exclusively, associated with positions on the surface of the Earth, and are
often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. In
order to accomplish their objective, surveyors use elements of geometry (Greek: measuring the
Earth), engineering, mathematics, physics, and law.
Surveying has been an essential element in the development of the human environment since the
beginning of recorded history (ca. 5000 years ago) and it is a requirement in the planning and
execution of nearly every form of construction. Its most familiar modern uses are in the fields of
transport, building and construction, communications, mapping, and the definition of legal
boundaries for land ownership.
You have to choose a construction company of Sri Lanka (e.g. Vajira housing, Ceylinco, Maga
constructions etc. ) and
between the construction company and the government of Sri Lanka to design and build an
architectural site.
The options of the sites that you have to mediate are:
A bridge
A ministry office for the government, within city limits/ rural areas.
As appointed groups the entire batch has to work together to conduct formal corporate meetings
and produce a report for the initial discussion of the project by each team member taking up a
management and decision making role for the company. The report should include minutes of
the meeting, business letters and progress of what was discussed in the meeting.
Each group will have to conduct a pre-construction / post construction discussion forum on the
updates of the outcomes of the construction project, create a conflict scenario and show
disciplines of conflict resolution, negotiation techniques, client interaction, and appropriate
workplace documents involved in the required fields.
