Wagon Tippler - Types

Schade Wagon Tipplers can be considered as comprising three main
types or design: 2. Crescent or C
Frame designs

3. Side tipping,
Rotaside or
Pivot Frame
1. Rotary or O Frame designs

Typical Wagon Handling Rates

Using a combination of the equipment the following typical
(& approximate) handling rates can be achieved: Tippler design

Note: Actual handling rates will depend on wagon weights & lengths,
train length, material etc and will be individually calculated for each
project

Types of Tipplers

1. Rotary or O Frame Tippler

For use Random wagons
(Wagons uncoupled for
unloading)
Hopper directly underneath
Suitable for 180 of Rotation

Requires Deeper Foundations

Support Rollers mounted under the
Tippler

Types of Tipplers

2. C Frame Rotary Tipplers

For use with wide variety
of different wagon types
C Frame allows Charger
arm to pass through
High throughput/high tph
Can be increased from
Single to Tandem
Machine design
Ideal for Port and Export
terminals (high
throughputs)
Single cage construction,
supported on rollers

WE CONVEY QUALITY

Typical C Frame Tandem Tippler Installation

Typical 16 to 18 m centres

2 Wagon tipped simultaneously

Typical operation is between 37 and 40

wagons unloaded per hour.
Typical Pivot frame (or Rotaside Wagon)
Tippler is between 27 and 30

Types of Tipplers

3. Side Tipping or Pivot Frame Tippler

For use Random wagons
(Wagons uncoupled for
unloading)
Hopper to one side of
tippler not underneath
Shallow foundations
Cheaper construction,
supported on pivot pins

Types of Tipplers

Examples of High Lift Pivot Frame (very shallow foundations)

Increased Dia End Rings

Typical high lift Pivot
Foundation depths less than 2.5mtrs
Frame Tippler
For low throughput use with F.E.L.
For higher throughput use with
Samson Feeders

Wagon Positioning Devices

Wagon Charger (also called Side Arm Charger

or SAC):

Wagon Chargers
Operates on independent rails
mounted alongside main line rails
3 or 4 wheels designs available
Needs to resists train ripple effect
High speed travel for fast positioning
Modular design with standard drive
cartridge
Central Spine Bar provides greater
accuracy and higher speeds
Can be used either alone or with Indexer for
higher throughput

Wagon Indexer
INDEXER

WAGON TIPPLER

CHARGER
Wagon Indexer
Wagon Indexer used in conjunction with a
Wagon Charger to achieve greater throughput
Simultaneous Wagon Movement
Similar design to Wagon Charge

Train Holding Equipment

Train Holding Devices

Wheel Grippers
Used for holding the train before
& after the tippler during unloading
Used in multiples (depending
on train length)
Wheel position accuracy flexible
Can cause wear to wagon wheels

Wheel Wedges
Similar to wheel Clamps
Greater wagon positioning accuracy
needed
No pressure applied to the wheels no
wear
Wheels can ride over the chock
