BDO also known as Banco De Oro is one of the universal banks and is one of the larges and known
bank in our country. Who can forget its tag line saying "we find ways". According to our researc BDO
is the 116th largest bank in Asia, and the 234rd largest bank globally, and is now a member of Sm
group owned by the famous entrepreneur Henry SY.

But when does BDO started? It started way back January 2, 1968. It was first known as Acme savings
bank, having only two branches. Until Mr. Henry Sy came and acquire Acme savings bank. He
renamed it Banco De Oro Savings and Mortage bank in November of 1979. BDO's main branch is
loacted at Makati City, Philippines.

BDO here in the philippines first started its CSR in the year 2014.
In the year 2014 BDO has been active with reliefs operations with the help of their 875 braches and
satellite offices and with the help of Sm stores in packing the relief goods.

BDO also established two school building, these are two storey building with four class rooms in Capiz
and in Aklan together with SM. while three more buildings are under construction in Tacloban, Negros
Oriental and in IloIlo. Together with Federation of Filipino - Chinese Chambers of Commerce, inc.
They had buit ten one storey buildings with two classrooms each in Sorsogon, Laguna, Sultan Kudarat,
nOrth and South Cotobato, Ilocos Sur, Zamboanga, Leyte and in Bohol. With the help of the
Philippines Greothermal Production Company, Inc. they had completed established a two storey
building with four classrooms in Baybay Elementary School in Catarman, Samar. In Mati, Davao
Oriental and in Sta. Fe, Leyte, two resettlement sites began construction in 2014. The former, with 69
housing units, is for victims of typhoon Pablo. The latter is for persons with disabilities and the victims
of typhoon Yolanda, through the Foundation for These-Abled Persons, Inc. The Leyte resettlement site
will have 100 units, all pre-fab and designed by German technology. BDOF recognizes that there is not
just a need to build houses, but to establish functioning communities. These resettlement sites are not
just made up of individual housing units. They come with a multi-purpose hall or community center

where residents can hold workshops and other socio-civic, religious and other activities. These
community centers are equipped with a kitchenette, comfort rooms and other furnishings and fully
funded by BDO employees and officers. Forty-five motorized boats with fish nets were donated by
BDO employees and officers to Project BANGKA (Bigay Agad NG Kabuhayan) of Regina Rica
Foundation for the residents of Barangay Santikan, San Dionisio, Iloilo.

After a year, all the projects of the company including school buildings, rural health centers and shelter
sites were completed. Aside from this, during the year 2015, BDO continued to align its activities in the
direction of relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction especially along the Yolanda corridor. There had
been an effort to help communities in those areas that are equally devastated by disaster but which have
not received ample attention and support, thus getting left behind in the long process of healing and
rebuilding. BDO affirms its leadership and its commitment to initiate and support community-based
programs that uplift the lives of interacted sectors especially those in disaster affected areas.

Because of the bank's passion and commitment, in the year 2014 they earned several awards namely
Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 for Social Empowerment and CSR Program of the
year (Silver) from the Asian Banking and Finance. The bank also got an award of Best CSR in
Corporate Governance Asia. The excellency of BDO continued and in the year 2015, they were
honored again as Best CSR and Best Environmental Responsibility in the Corporate Governance
Asia 5th Asian Excellence Recognition Awards 2015. They also attained the same awards in the year
2016.
