The impact of the Environment on

our Food System

Consumer demands for food
causes an increased need for
livestock and crops. This
demand is having a negative
impact on the environment in
the form of global warming
and climate change as
evidenced by:

Rising sea levels

Global temperature rise
Warming ocean waters
Shrinking ice sheet
Extreme weather patterns
How can I help reduce my carbon footprint and protect the earth from climate change?
Walk, ride your bike or
carpool to school or other
events when possible, to
reduce your consumption
of fossil fuels.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

and comport to help keep
unneeded trash out of
the landfills!

A diet high in plant based

foods minimize the
demand for livestock.

Turn lights off when you

leave rooms to reduce
electricity usage.

Think about your daily actions, how they might contribute to the
environment in both positive and negative ways. What can you
change and what should stay the same? How might these actions
be effecting your food supply?
